Happy Aquarius Full Moon! This is the time of the year when the spotlight is on our friendships, our community, and the groups we align ourselves with. Aquarius helps us to zoom out and see things from a wider perspective. It also talks about connection, not on a personal or one-on-one level, but on a societal level. That said, the full moon is exact on August 15, 2019 at 8:29 am EDT, 22 degrees Aquarius/Leo. That’s 1:29 pm London, 5:29 am Los Angeles, and 10:29 pm in Sydney.
Leo Season teaches us about the power and importance of staying true to ourselves as well as cultivating personality and individuality with aplomb. Aquarius, Leo’s compliment, on the other hand, brings us into a greater awareness that we are not just individuals but part of something larger — call it humanity, call it the collective, call it the fabric of society.
For many, Aquarius is simply an energy that makes us aware of our friendships and social connections. But this full moon is also a call for us to open our consciousness to something bigger and to be an active participant in our communities, social causes, and anything that benefits equity and the greater good.
The Aquarius Full Moon is also a time when we may be feeling rather disconnected from the whole. One of Aquarius’s manifestations is that of the outsider. If you’re feeling disconnected from friendships and community or struggle with feeling like the outsider, how will you use this full moon to take positive steps towards new friendships or stronger social connection, especially with those whom you feel understand you?
This full moon makes an opposition to Mars in Leo, so it’s a call to action. It motives and spurs us to move. We can’t be passive participants anymore. Mars challenges, too. Mars can also make for confrontational energy, especially when it comes to relationships, so take note of your interactions around the time of the full moon.
More importantly, this full moon as well as the July 16 Capricorn Full Moon — a lunar eclipse — have occurred in what are called Saturn ruled signs. For those who have been paying close attention to the astrology, Saturn has been in a conjunction to Pluto in Capricorn all year long in anticipation to an exact lineup in January 22. So, even though we’re looking at our friendships and our communities right now, we’re also looking at the shadow side of things — power struggles, abuse, and anything that normally gets proverbially swept under the rug. Pay attention to any subtext or hidden message behind this full moon. We may have to make a major decision about who we’re aligned with.
Saturn Capricorn is also making conjunction to the South Node of the Moon. We may get a ripple of eclipse energy with this full moon. Doors may be closing as well as opening. Events may feel charged or fated. And since Saturn is on the South Node, we’re not only dealing with the past, but letting something go in order to move forward.
