Welcome to the Aquarius Full Moon, the time in the lunar calendar when the spotlight is on the larger frameworks that govern our lives, the communities that we belong to, and the friends and allies we connect with. It’s a full moon to also look towards the future. The full moon is exact on August 11, 2022 at 9:35 pm ET, 19 degrees Aquarius-Leo. That’s 6:35 pm Los Angeles, 2:35 am London on August 12, 3:35 am Johannesburg, 11:35 am Sydney, and 1:35 pm Auckland.
By this point, we should have a strong understanding of what Aquarius is. After all, Saturn’s been in Aquarius since March 2020, give or take. Saturn makes us work to understand our role and experience with the sign that it’s in. And what’s Aquarius? Systems and networks. Technology and science. Friendship and community. Social connection and social systems. Social issues and social causes. Justice and ideology. Sound familiar?
Saturn in Aquarius has, so far, been two and a half years of building up and breaking down these very systems that Aquarius governs. We’ve seen strain on our communities. We’ve navigated isolation. We’ve had to rely on technology in unprecedented ways. We’re more aware of social issues and social justice.
Saturn isn’t inherently negative, but it pulls at the weak points and shows us where things are out of balance so we can consciously put things back into order and learn the lessons. (You can watch a clip of my Facing Saturn: Learn to Master Your Life webinar here.)
Aquarius is also the social fabric that connects everyone and everything, the unseen threads that we build our lives upon in ways that are intangible. Saturn, as the ruler of Capricorn, reveals our concrete structures. Saturn, as ruler of Aquarius, reveals our invisible structures.
There’s some area of our lives that we’ve been working hard on ever since Saturn arrived in March 2020 and again in December 2020. You could think of the full moon as one of the penultimate moments in our Saturn in Aquarius journey, a referendum on all we’ve learned. All of this in preparation of Saturn’s arrival in Pisces in March 2023.
That said, this full moon comes with a lineup of heavy duty astrology. The Sun squares Uranus, a push to awaken, reinvent, or see things differently. The Sun opposes Saturn, a moment where we have to be in integrity and honor our commitments and choices. It’s also a time where we see the karmic results of our actions. There’s a tense t-square of energy pointing us in the direction of Taurus — we need to find new ground.
It’s possible that we may see events around the full moon, which are times when we have to make a decision or there is a demand to take action or make things fair. These are decisions and actions that may have larger reaching consequences.
And, true to Leo Season’s anthem, we can’t forget who we are.
In honor of today’s Aquarius Full Moon, I’m launching my Saturn Master Class: A 12-Week Journey, which takes you through each of the 12 zodiac signs and the lessons that Saturn teaches us to find mastery. The master class runs from September 17 until December 1, 2022 and will meet weekly virtually in a group setting.
You can learn more about my master class in the link below.
