Welcome to the Scorpio New Moon, the time in the lunar calendar when we turn our focus to the psyche, intimacy, transformation, and rebirth. Scorpio is one of the signs of matter and the material world, which means that finance and investments are a focus, too. The Scorpio New Moon is on November 20, 2025 at 1:48 am ET, 28 degrees Scorpio, That’s 10:48 pm Los Angeles on November 19, 6:48 am London on November 20, 8:48 am Johannesburg, 12:18 pm New Delhi, 5:48 pm Sydney, and 7:48 pm Auckland.
New moons are new beginnings, a reset that we can rely on every four weeks. They give us an opportunity for a refresh. A zodiac sign acts as a lens, driving our experiences over the coming days. We set our intentions for something new to enter our lives or we take renewed initiative.
More importantly, the zodiac is a ladder. Each sign is a rung and necessary step that helps us to progress upwards. This helps us to understand Scorpio on a deeper level, a sign that at first glance seems like a step that we would rather skip. After all, Scorpio is a sign of death and resurrection, the sign of the deepest and sometimes darkest parts of the human psyche and experience.
When we step onto the Scorpio rung, which we do each year (or each month when the Moon is in Scorpio), we need to do so with courage. Scorpio is a sign that is ruled by Mars — the courage to go inward, to make the decision to transform ourselves into something better.
If you’ve been to therapy, or if you’ve searched your soul for inner revelation, you’ve symbolically stepped on the Scorpio rung of the zodiac ladder. Life is not static; it is always changing. Scorpio represents the seasons of life and the sometimes hard transitions that come with it.
Today’s new moon creates a very specific container of energy for us to explore. Yes, Scorpio will be our focus for the next four weeks, but so will Uranus in Taurus. The new moon makes a near exact opposition to the planet of awakenings, breakthroughs, reinvention, and shakeups, an energy that wants to create a seismic shift.
Think back to May 2018, March 2019. Those were the months that Uranus first entered Taurus. A story began at that time that we are now reaching the conclusion of — dramatically so for those who are a Taurus, Scorpio, Leo, Aquarius. This new moon brings the story to a head, a theme in our personal life needs our attention, one of our last pushes to learn the lesson and grow beyond who we were six, seven years ago. (Read Uranus in Taurus: Sign by Sign for a refresh.)
That said, this new moon features not just the opposition of the Sun and Uranus, but Mercury in Scorpio opposite Uranus in Taurus, too. Information may come to light, conversations may upend, ideas may inspire and awaken over the next four weeks.
Mars, the ruler of the new moon, is at 11 Sagittarius, square the Lunar Nodes. The new moon opens a story that plays off the eclipses of September, just two months before. As a result, the end of November and the beginning of December may be a pivotal time, especially for the mutable signs of Pisces, Virgo, Gemini, and Sagittarius … and especially as Mars squares Saturn on December 8.
Thankfully, for all this dynamic and transformative energy, we have a Grand Water Trine between the Sun, Moon, Mercury in Scorpio, Jupiter in Cancer, and Saturn, Neptune in Pisces. Whatever jolts us awake is an opportunity for healing, compassion, and can help us move onto new emotional spaces.
