Welcome to October! This the time in the zodiac year when the Sun travels through the sign of Libra, teaching us about the importance of cooperation, understanding, and balance. Libra is also the sign of relationships, so we’re feeling an urge to reach out and partner up.
Throughout our journey through the zodiac, starting with Aries, we’ve learned about ourselves through each sign. But when we arrive in Libra, it’s the first to take us out of ourselves and into the world. Now we have to negotiate the needs of others and find consensus, instincts that come naturally to Venus, the ruling planet of Libra. If something is out of balance, how do we find equilibrium? If something is one sided, how do we find equity?
This Libra Season, however, is a bit different. One, Venus is over in Scorpio, a sign that couldn’t be more different. If Libra shows us the surface of something, then Scorpio is the less than genteel reality behind the facade. Two, Venus turns retrograde on October 5, which means that we’re doing our karmic work on relationships all month long.
Retrogrades are about the past. They push us to look at things from a different angle, to reevaluate, and see how we can make new choices. Venus Retrograde in particular is another look at our relationships. How can we treat each other differently? How can we work together? Don’t be surprised if an old lover resurfaces during Venus Retrograde. If you happen to start a relationship during Venus Retrograde, there’s likely a powerful karmic story you two are working out, one that may span other lives. And what is our karmic work? Again, Venus is in Scorpio, a sign that is more motivated by power than equity, depth than surface. We’re digging into our relationship shadows this month, we’re revealing something from the past, we’re looking at the secrets we keep from each other, we’re examining the sort of things that happen behind closed doors. (Venus turns direct on November 16.)
A Libra New Moon on October 8 kicks this karmic work up a notch. With a square to Pluto, we’ve have to change how we relate to each other. Pluto speaks to imperatives as well as what’s essential to for our soul growth. So it’s important that we really take a sharp look at our relationships this month and transform what is no longer serving us. This could be something as simple as learning to stand up for ourselves.
Then on October 9, Mercury moves into Scorpio. Here Mercury is the detective, the researcher, the medium, the analyzer. And since Mercury is the planet of communication, it favors honest and emotionally revealing conversations, even if they are uncomfortable.
By October 23 the Sun moves into Scorpio and we bid hello to Scorpio Season, a time that lasers in on the impermanence of life and sifts through the life experiences that powerfully transform us. Mars is still in Aquarius until November, a sign that makes Scorpio more concerned with community, social connection, justice, and politics.
Lastly, a full moon on October 24 lights up the sign of Taurus as well as our Uranus in Taurus story. Something has been radically shifting for Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius over the past five months. This full moon feels like a turning point, a jolt, a flash of awareness and understanding. Something is changing, but we have to break from the past.

Aries
March 21–April 19
Life’s been pretty interesting lately, what with Mars, your ruling planet, retrograde throughout July and August. In a way, you’re only now just starting to get back to where you where after retracing your steps and revisiting the past. It’s important to note that Mars has spent much of this time in the sign of Aquarius and will continue to do so until the beginning of November. Much of this month will continue to point you towards on your friendships and social network. Speaking of which, you’ve had some loose ends to tie up in this department — friendships that have needed your attention and care, a community that you’ve needed to find your place in, group dynamics you’ve had to negotiate. Couple that with Libra Season, you’re stepping to the side and letting other people take center stage. Libra is relationships, partnerships, and the awareness and skills needed to coexist. It’s a time when you’re naturally seeking out connection and making your relationships a priority. But with the energy of Libra pointing over to Venus in Scorpio, it’s more about what’s happening behind closed doors than what’s happening on the surface. Libra wants to keep things nice and calm, but in private it may be all together different. Venus in Scorpio speaks to intimacy, sexuality, and raw emotional power. It’s that feeling you get when you open up to someone, making yourself vulnerable. It’s even the dark side of love like power, control, obsession, and manipulation. Regardless, you’ll be sorting through all the many intimate facets of your relationships over the coming weeks. In fact, Venus will turn retrograde on October 5, so pay attention to what’s coming up. It has subtext. There’s a lesson for you to learn, loose ends for you to tie up, choices you need to revisit. Don’t be surprised if an old lover resurfaces. A new moon on October 8 opens a new chapter in relationships. If you’re single, this may be a time when you naturally seek out new partnership. If you’re already in a relationship, the page turns to a new chapter between you and a partner. Keep in mind that this new moon activates Pluto and echoes some of the karmic work you’re doing this month on relationships. Pluto means facing yourself, which is to say facing how you act in relationships in a way that needs to change as well as facing your relationship shadows. Then on October 24, a full moon puts money and material stability in the spotlight. This is an area you’re going to be doing a lot of work on over the coming years. Then again, you know this. You’ve been getting the push since May. What do you really need to feel stable, rooted, and grounded? How does your relationship with money need to change? What do you value? The full moon will put a lot in perspective. Want to learn more about how the astrology of October will affect you? Book your consultation now.

Taurus
April 20–May 20
Taurus, I’m going to belabor a point I’ve been making for the last five months or so. You’re in a time of profound change. Call it an awakening, call it a reinvention, but something fundamental is shifting, even if it’s only on the inside. Maybe you’re like, nothing is happening! Where is the change?? Think of it this way. You’re at the beginning of the story, so the plot is still unfolding. Nevertheless, astrology is like the hand of the clock pointing to a specific hour. That’s why we know it’s a time of change; the planet Uranus is pointing towards Taurus. I mention all of this because October is a month that’s activating this story of personal reinvention. But first, let’s talk about Venus, your ruling planet. It’s over in Scorpio right now, a place that happens to be your relationship sign. One of your primary focuses this month is on the people in your life, from partnerships to intimate relationships. Don’t be surprised if a lot of stuff is happening in that department. You’re trying to negotiate, compromise, and make connection. But Venus is turning retrograde on October 5, so this means a couple of things for you. One, you’re having to do some work in the relationship department. Retrogrades are always about the past — dealing with unfinished business from the past, retracing steps, tying up loose ends, and working out karma. Do you have unfinished business in your relationships? Do you need to retrace your steps with someone? Do you need to interact, partner, or relate differently? Since Venus is your ruling planet, you may feel like you’re not moving forward. Don’t worry; this is natural. We all have to take time to rest and reflect. Let’s not forget that it’s Libra Season, too. The other area of focus this month is health, wellness, and dealing with the details of everyday life like schedule, work, and organization. The new moon on October 9 will give you a reset in this department. If you’ve been looking to make some positive changes in how you take care of your body, this is your new moon to turn over a new leaf. This also includes emotional health. Plus, you can use this new moon to tackle projects in the home. But it’s the Taurus Full Moon on October 24 that I really want to talk about. It’s the full moon that may put many of these personal changes and reinventions into perspective. Are you ready for a breakthrough? Are you ready to turn a light on? Are you ready to be the real you? Gemini
May 21–June 20
Gemini, hello! I know things have probably been a little heavy lately. You’re a sign that likes to keep it light and breezy, but this year has put emotion and feelings at the forefront. And that’s the thing. If astrology tells us what time it is, then one of the big hands on Gemini’s celestial clock has been pointing towards examining the deepest parts of yourself — your fears, your vulnerabilities. This could be your fears around money and stability or your fears about letting someone in. While this emotional work continues this month, thankfully it’s Libra Season, a sign that helps you to have fun, be creative, and be yourself. The new moon on October 8 will help you to put on the charm. Yet, despite Libra’s flirtations, you can’t fully escape these deeper feelings stirring within. When Mercury, your ruling planet, changes signs on October 9, it will move into Scorpio for the rest of the month. And if you know Scorpio, it’s a sign that demands that you dive into the unknown. You may have a need to investigate and search, to obsess and examine. Your intuition may be sharper, too. Scorpio is also a sign that speaks to Gemini’s physical and emotional health, so this is a great time to talk to a counselor or therapist if you’ve been thinking of doing so. Don’t forget, you’re one third of the way through a story that began last December, one that will continue to push you to examine your psyche, your fears, your shadow the next couple of years. So don’t be afraid to get deep, Gemini. It’s unavoidable right now. With that in mind, there’s an existential edge to October. You’re looking for answers about life and meaning. Are they in a book? Or are they deep within? A full moon on October 24 will pull you behind the scenes to rest and search your soul. Your dreams may be more vivid, more urgent of your attention. Make sure you write them down as they are shedding insight onto something otherwise hidden. You can use this time to meditate, too. It’s also a full moon to let things go — from obsessions to addictions and habits. Plus, as you focus on your physical health this month, be aware of how it ties into the holistic picture, how the body, mind, and soul are inextricably linked. Lastly, Mars is still heating up the part of your chart that wants travel and exploration. You’re still on the go. Then again, you’re a Gemini. You never stop moving. Cancer
June 21–July 22
As a Cancer, you’re a sign that’s known for its love of home and family. Of course that’s a bit simplistic, but it comes out of Cancer’s desire to connect and forge emotional bond. You could say that Libra Season is a month to rediscover some of your natural instincts to nest and care for the people closest to you. You may be spending more time at home, bringing beauty and harmony to your surroundings, or looking to make a change in the home. If you’re thinking of moving, this month may bring an opportunity to do so, especially after the new moon on October 8. Family and children may be a focus, too. (As an aside, if you’ve been looking to start a family, you’ve had a window this year to do so.) Keep in mind that if anything is happening on the home front and if you’re making some serious decisions, the story may not resolve until December. That’s because Venus turns retrograde on October 5 and Venus is the planet in your chart that rules home and family for you. Retrogrades are about visiting the past, seeing things from a different perspective, and gaining new awareness. So this retrograde may prompt you to take another look at your living situation, to revisit memories or something with the family. It may even dig up something with your roots, ancestry, or childhood. Another thing to keep in mind is that Mars has been spending a very long time — pretty much since the middle of May — in the part of your chart that reveals your deepest self, your psyche, your shadow. You’ve had to dig into emotions over the past four months that have been uncomfortable at times. You’ve worked on themes of trust, vulnerability, intimacy, and sexuality. Mars will continue to poke and prod into November. So if something is coming up emotionally for you — and you’re a Cancer; you feel everything so deeply — make sure you’re addressing it because it’s the time to do so. Lastly a full moon on October 24 will put the spotlight on community, friendship, and connection. Home and family are important, of course, but what about your friends? Do you feel like you are a part of something? That you have a community that you belong to? Are you searching for connection? Belonging? The full moon will not only give you a sense of urgency, but activate a story that’s been unfolding since May. Which is to say, you’re in a much bigger chapter where you’re getting a push by the cosmos to find your place in the world. This means having friends who really get who you are, who light you up, and open you to new experiences. Whatever or whomever that doesn’t fit that bill may be stepping to the side. Want to learn more about how the astrology of October will affect you? Book your consultation now.
Key Themes: Home, family, roots, connection, foundation, emotional needs, memories, ancestry, the past, identity, creativity, children, romance, passion, emotions, feelings, deep self, the psyche, the shadow, facing fears, transformation, rebirth, secrets, intimacy, vulnerability, sexuality, community, friendships, social circle, social network, the future, looking ahead, belonging.
Leo
July 23–August 22
It’s Libra Season, a time for Leo to get curious, to move, travel, socialize, charm. It’s also a busy season, one spent in and around the neighborhood, chitchatting, schmoozing, and making calls. But with the energy of Libra Season pointing towards Venus in Scorpio, make sure you’re going beyond the surface. Scorpio is a sign that helps you get to the heart of things, to its raw emotional core. Conversations may turn to deeper subjects. You may be revealing more personal things about yourself. You’re socializing, but spending more time with family or close loved ones. That said, the new moon on October 8 prioritizes communication, learning, and education this month. You may be taking classes or reading up, anything to help you flex your mind. If you are a writer or a speaker, this is a natural time for you to express this talent to communicate. But let’s talk career and direction. It’s something that’s been getting a lot of emphasis over the past five or so months. As you’ve maybe read before, you’re going to be redefining your place in the world over the coming eight years. This could mean a job change, a change in how you orient your life, this could mean a reinvention of what you value in the world. Maybe it’s not about the title and status anymore, but doing something that really speaks to something authentic within you. I mention this for a couple of reasons. One, Venus, your career planet, turns retrograde on October 5. I think there’s been a lot of thinking and questioning over the past few months. Should I make a career change? What’s going to really make me happy and satisfied. Venus Retrograde means that you’re not making any big moves for the next couple of months. You’re looking at things from a different angle. You’re going within and examining your heart. You’re reevaluating. What’s going to create stability in your life? The second thing is that the full moon on October 24 is going to put this issue right in the spotlight. See, back in May, the planet Uranus arrived in Taurus and started to shake things up in your life. And the Taurus Full Moon will be right on Uranus, bringing the story into focus. You may feel like you’re pulled in two different directions. Which one do you pick? Whatever you do choose, Leo, just know that you’re in a powerful time of reinvention. Don’t limit your options. Want to learn more about how the astrology of October will affect you? Book your consultation now.
Key Themes: Communication, learning, thinking, speaking, movement, travel, ideas, information, charm, grace, manners, emotional connection, emotional authenticity, root, core, foundation, home, family, living situation, relationships, partnerships, other people, finding balance, making peace, career, professional life, direction, ambition, responsibility, job change, professional reinvention.
Virgo
August 23–September 22
Virgo, what do you need to feel safe and secure in life? A roof over your head? Money in the bank? When you arrive at Libra Season each year, it’s a time for you to assess your material needs. You’re feeling a natural pull to acquire, accumulate, or make necessary purchases. We live in a physical world and at the heart of this time in your personal calendar is to gather what you need in order for your physical life to flourish. Since value and worth is an aspect to this time of year, it’s important to mention that Venus, the planet of value and worth, turns retrograde on October 5. And since retrogrades are a time when we have to reassess and rework, you may be wondering this month, is it worth it? Traditionally Venus Retrograde is considered a time when you don’t know the true value of something. If you’re thinking about making a big purchase in October, try to wait till November if you can. Because Venus will make a long opposition to Uranus this month, your awareness or consciousness of the true cost of something may be changing. Uranus helps to bring new perspective and it’s safe to say that this month is a time of value shift. The new moon on October 8 continues this theme of money and material focus. You may find yourself busy throughout the month — busy with work, obligations, appointments — all to help you get your real world life in order. Speaking of real world, Mars has been in your chart’s sector of work since May and maybe you’ve been feeling like there’s nonstop things to get done or check off the to-do list. Mars in this part of the chart tends to overwork, so make sure you’re bringing some balance to your life this month. Mercury, your ruling planet, moves into Scorpio on October 9 and some of the story starts to shift towards communication, travel, and education. When Mercury is in Scorpio, you’re motivated to investigate and search for clues, conversations are deep and personal, curiosity is obsessive and insatiable. To that point, take a class in October, read some books, start a research project. A full moon on October 24 continues this theme, putting the spotlight on philosophy, truth, and wisdom. After you’ve spent the month gathering information, what does it all mean? Do you still see the world the same way or from a different perspective. Speaking of seeing the world, the full moon also highlights foreign travel and other cultures or religions. Pack your bags because as much as October is about the ground beneath your feet, it’s also about movement and exploration. Even if you can’t travel, make sure you’re getting out in other ways. This full moon also highlights a story that’s been coming up the past five or so months. Ever since Uranus moved into Taurus in May, you began a powerful new story about reinventing how you see and understand the world. The full moon will line up with Uranus and you may get a bigger idea of what’s shifting for you in this new Uranus in Taurus era. It may be your faith, what you believe in, or even the value of education. Want to learn more about how the astrology of October will affect you? Book your consultation now.
Key Themes: Money, income, salary, spending, resource, material needs, material life, security, stability, what you own, value, worth, self worth, communication, writing, speaking, thinking, learning, classes, education, the neighborhood, short trips, foreign travel, long distance journeys, journey, search, quest, worldview, understanding, meaning, right and wrong, philosophy, religion, work, duties, to-do list, health, wellness, taking care of the body.
Libra
September 23–October 22
Happy birthday, Libra! How do you feel? It’s quite possible that this year has been marked by personal milestones, what with Saturn encouraging you to put down roots and build a solid foundation for yourself. So, as you celebrate, it may be with an awareness of all the things that shifted for you since your last birthday. This birthday season Venus, your ruling planet, is in Scorpio, a sign known for its emotional depth as well as edge. Admittedly, on paper, Libra and Scorpio couldn’t be more different. If Libra is more concerned with how things look on the outside, then Scorpio revels in the messy realness of life. You’re feeling the duality this month, this split between the outer and the inner, how we present ourselves to the world versus what happens behind closed doors, after the Libra New Moon on October 8. Another major point to make is that Venus turns retrograde on October 5, giving this month an edge to it. Retrogrades are about the past. They are a second look at how we’ve been living the energy of a planet. Since Libra is ruled by Venus, this retrograde touches on something very personal to who you are or how you express who you are. Maybe you present an image of yourself, but beneath the surface it’s different. Maybe there’s some work on self worth to be done or something around value in general. As Venus makes an opposition to Uranus all month long, you may need to leave something behind or make a break from the past. Uranus can shock us awake but it can also help to liberate us from ourselves. Another thing about the retrograde is that it’s a time when you may feel as though you’re not quite moving forward with things. Just have patience and be conscientious about how you use this time of review. (Venus will turn direct on November 16. Also, fun fact, Venus was last retrograde March 4 to April 15, 2017.) Speaking of Uranus and liberation, you’re at the beginning of a story, one that will stretch over eight years, where you’re shedding light on some of the deepest parts of yourself and liberating them. Think of October as the month that brings this story into focus. What are you not dealing with? What do you need to face? The full moon on October 24 will shine a light on something you may not want to see, something that touches on secrets, vulnerability, and the emotional shadow. Additionally, the full moon may touch on themes of money, from what you make and what you own to the resources you share with others. You may have a financial decision to make about money and property as a result. That said, October is a turning point and not just because it’s your birthday. October is hinting at a new story coming into focus as well as the emotional work that you need to do to heal a divide within yourself. Want to learn more about how the astrology of October will affect you? Book your consultation now.
Key Themes: You, the self, new beginnings, new season, moving backwards, rewind, review, revalue, self worth, self awareness, what you own, money, income, salary, security, stability, resources, basic needs, trust, secrets, intimacy, vulnerability, the psyche, the shadow, the deep self, facing fears, transformation, rebirth.
Scorpio
October 23–November 21
It’s almost your birthday season, Scorpio. But before you can start celebrating, it’s time to review your journey throughout the year. What worked? What didn’t? And what a year it’s been. Between the eclipses and Uranus’s arrival in your relationship sign, you’ve had a lot to keep you on your toes, so it’s good to reflect. The new moon on October 8 pulls you inward to meditate, dream, and otherwise search your soul. October is usually one of the most spiritual times for you, one when you straddle the divide between an old life and a new life. And since you’re known for your intuition and deep understanding of the world, don’t be afraid to shed layers and let go. (I know, you’re a Scorpio. You’re used to shedding layers, but even you can stubbornly hold onto things.) Another thing to mention is that your ruling planet Mars has been tucked away down in Aquarius since May pretty much. Aquarius is your sign of home and family; it speaks to your roots, your foundation, your emotional core. It’s possible that you’ve been more focused than usual on your home or living situation, which includes either making a move or making changes to the home that create stability and security. It’s also about need and getting your needs met, which is something you can reflect on as you step back from the hustle and bustle this month. Then there’s Venus. The planet of relationships, compromise, and beauty turns retrograde in Scorpio on October 5. See, retrogrades are inherently about the past. The turn us inward and help us to become more aware of how we’ve used a planet’s energies in the past. If Venus is about how we relate to others, then its retrograde throughout Scorpio is a look back on how you’ve negotiated power dynamics and the shadow side of love. Since the Sun is still in Libra for most of this month, I think what we’re working towards during this retrograde is equity, meaning if your relationship dynamics have been out of balance, how do you bring them back into harmony? This may mean facing yourself, your shadow, the times when you’ve manipulated, or the times when you’ve been manipulated. Scorpio is a powerful sign, but it’s a sign that needs to find balance so that power doesn’t tip in the wrong direction. Speaking of relationships, a full moon in your relationship sign of Taurus on October 24 will put an emerging story into focus, a story that has been unfolding since May. Basically you’re at the beginning of an eight year story where you’re reinventing your relationships and how you interact with people. You’re attracting people into your life that are quite different than before. You’re taking powerful new awareness of how to be in partnership with others. The full moon will align with the planet Uranus and set this story in motion. As a result, people could be coming in and out of your life very quickly this month. You may meet someone that feels fated, electric, or charged. Or you may realize that something isn’t working and needs change. In summary, you’re straddling the divide this month and many of the changes you set in motion in the last six months are kicking into gear and will continue to unfold into November. Want to learn more about how the astrology of October will affect you? Book your consultation now.

Sagittarius
November 22–December 21
Let’s talk big picture, Sagittarius. You’re a sign that can certainly see things from a wider angle, right? Ever since Jupiter moved into Scorpio back in October 2017, you’ve been in a year long time of soul searching and reflection. Yes, you’re one of those signs that likes to be always on the go, but the past year has been a reminder that for everything there is a season and it’s been your season to lay low and recharge. It’s also been a time to dig into some of the deepest parts of yourself, whether through psychological means or through spirituality and meditation. Scorpio has given Jupiter, your ruling planet, a sharp eye, powerful intuition, and a drive to keep searching for answers, even if they are found in the quiet space between thoughts. Next month Jupiter will leave Scorpio and move into Sagittarius for the coming year, which will be a homecoming and a time of new beginnings. Before that can happen, however, you have to make it through that last stretch of bringing the hidden parts of yourself into the light and this month much of that work is centered on relationships. With Venus turning retrograde in Scorpio on October 5, you’re looking at past shadow issues around relationships. And if Jupiter is helping you to bring light to these shadows, then how do you make a change? How do you change old relationship dynamics? Heal old wounds, old traumas, old abuse? What are you hiding from yourself? This includes both intimate relationships and other connections like friendships and partnerships. This isn’t light or easy in any way, let’s be honest. If anything, as a Sagittarius, you’ve managed to stay optimistic as you worked on sometimes difficult emotional material. But, in the end, you’re reborn next month, ready to enter the next big journey, like packing your bags and setting off into new adventures. Before that can happen, you’ve got some work to do. A full moon on October 24 will light up the part of your chart that speaks to getting organized and working through of the details of daily life. It also deals with health and how you take care of your body. This full moon in particular is quite powerful. It picks up on a major shift that began back in May. Have you started taking care of your body in a totally different way? New foods? New exercise? Or have you made or have been thinking of making significant changes to some aspect of your daily life? Something clicks into place this month. You may make a big decision around the full moon or feel compelled to make a break from the past. This may include bad habits or anything that you have a unhealthy connection to. So, sounds like you’re getting your ducks in a row this month and preparing for new things on the horizon. It’s just one last push with a lot of the behind the scenes emotional work. You can do it! Want to learn more about how the astrology of October will affect you? Book your consultation now.
Key Themes: Friendships, community, social circle, social connection, the future, looking ahead, aspirations, friendship or group dynamics, the shadow, self examination, the hidden self, the unconscious, dreams, reflection, soul searching, existential questions, letting go, shedding layers, purging, behind the scenes, rest, recharge, meditation, getting ready, preparing, work, health, wellness, diet, fitness, nutrition, daily life, schedule, organization, daily grind.
Capricorn
December 22–January 19
Welcome to Libra Season, a sign that speaks to your ambition, your desire to make a place for yourself in the world. The Sun is traveling through the highest part of your chart and so it’s a time to be visible, to make strides professionally, to negotiate responsibility, and to network. The new moon on October 8 will give you a professional reset or new beginning, perfect for making a career move, a job change, or being more intentional about what direction you take your life in. Don’t forget, Saturn is in Capricorn this year and into 2020, so you’ve been getting a push from Saturn to take the next steps in life and in some ways this month speaks to some of the changes you’ve been making since the start of the year. Here’s the thing. Venus is your career planet and it will turn retrograde on October 5. Retrogrades are about the past, about seeing something from a different angle, about revaluing something. So, until November 16, you’re doing that in your career or in your public life. Basically you’re not rushing ahead with anything this month. Then again, you’re a Capricorn. You know what it means to work the long game. The other thing to note about this Venus Retrograde is that it’s happening in the sign of Scorpio. Pay attention to any power dynamics that are coming up this month, particularly with a friend or within a group. Scorpio also speaks to secrets, intimacy, vulnerability, and the shadow. Do you need to be more open? More revealing? Do you need to let go of control and find more balance? Do you need to look at yourself in ways that may be uncomfortable? Scorpio is a sign that, at its core, wants transformation and that’s what’s on the docket this month, both personal transformation and professional transformation. In particular, a full moon on October 24 will activate a story of transformation that has been unfolding since May and will continue to do so for the next eight years. You’re at the beginning this story, one where you’ll reinvent and awaken to a new version of who you are. The full moon will line up with Uranus, a planet that wants you to liberate yourself from the smaller aspects of yourself. Pay attention to what’s coming up in the last week of the month because it will thread itself through the coming years. Want to learn more about how the astrology of October will affect you? Aquarius
January 20–February 18
Pack your bags, Aquarius. This is one of the times in your personal calendar when travel is in the spotlight. You naturally want to seek, explore, and see the world. (Business travel is particularly highlighted this month, by the way.) Can’t travel this month, then certainly you can explore in other ways, whether it’s through books and media or through education. It’s a philosophically driven month, one that wants you to find answers to questions or try to make sense of things, particularly around the Libra New Moon on October 8. However, this new moon is more about the past than the future because it points over to Venus Retrograde in Scorpio. When a planet is retrograde, it means we simply have to reevaluate how we use or express that planet. (Retrogrades are a totally normal and frequent occurrence. No need to worry.) As an Aquarius, you naturally value education, ideas, and having a worldly perspective. But sometimes we become set in how we see things or believe in something in a as to become blind to other perspectives. This retrograde is a reevaluation, another look at the world, at faith. It’s a reexamination of your responsibilities, how you define yourself in the world, and how people see you, which is admittedly more of an abstract point to make. Then again, you’re an Aquarius. You get theory and concepts. Looking ahead, a full moon on October 24 will light up the sign of Taurus, which forms the foundation of your chart. It’s home, family, and the very roots you put down. The full moon will put a spotlight on this part of your life, an area that’ve been getting some rumbles of big change since May. See, ever since Uranus moved into the sign of Taurus five months ago, you’ve been in a powerful new chapter where you’ve been reinventing the very foundation of your life. Perhaps you made a big move or you’re planning to make a big move. Perhaps there have been seismic emotional shifts as you search to rediscover what you really need to feel safe and grounded. Perhaps you have new awareness of the importance of home and family or you’re feeling a push to make a break from your roots. The full moon will put this story into the spotlight, a story that will be with you for the next eight years. It’s also important to note that this full moon picks up on the energy of the Aquarius Lunar Eclipse on July 27. Something is shifting, manifesting, propelling that eclipse energy forward. A door is closing and opening. The wheel of your life is turning. Lastly, Mars will continue to be in Aquarius until the beginning of November. Pisces
February 19–March 20
Before we dive into Libra Season and what it means for you, I want to first put something on your radar. Jupiter, your ruling planet, has been in Scorpio since last October. And because every year Jupiter moves into a new sign, you get to experience each of the twelve signs over twelve years. When Jupiter is in Scorpio, you’re diving into themes of faith, belief, and a search for truth. Seeing how Scorpio is a water sign, just like you, your search takes you into the emotional, the invisible. Over the last year it’s been a psychologically driven sign, but also one that may have put education as a priority or had you searching far away lands for meaning and wisdom. Next month Jupiter will say goodbye to Scorpio and arrive in Sagittarius, which is not unlike one of the big hands on your celestial clock moving to a new hour. November will be a month to start a new story, to experience life through the optimism and enthusiasm of Sagittarius. It’s also the sign that points you towards career and so your professional life as well as your responsibilities will be priority. But it’s still October, which means that you’re wrapping up a story that began last year. What have you learned over the last twelve months? What have you faced? What questions have you answered? And since it’s Libra Season, a time in your personal calendar to go within, you’re searching your deeper self this month. You’re exploring your vulnerabilities, your fears, and what it means to truly be intimate with someone. It’s also a month to focus on financial matters, getting accounts and portfolios in order. That said, the new moon on October 8 will give this area of your life a renewed focus for the coming four weeks. If you have any financial initiatives that you need to prioritize, this is your new moon. This could mean dealing with assets, loans, statements, and anything you share financially with another person — a mate, a partner. It’s also a month to prioritize your psychological health and it’s quite possible that you’re feeling a bit emotionally charged this month. Although Pisces likes to float, life is sometimes very real and requires us to be present and honest with ourselves. And then there’s the Taurus Full Moon on October 24. It will put the spotlight on how you communicate, think, learn, and even make decisions for yourself. This is actually an area of your life that’s been getting some action over the past five months, ever since Uranus moved into the sign of Taurus. Basically you’re at the start of an eight year chapter of reinventing how you think and communicate. Since it’s the beginning of the chapter, maybe this story has been playing out in a way that you’re not fully aware of yet. The full moon will bring this new era into focus. Pay attention to what’s coming up because it’s going to thread its way through your experiences over the coming years. Want to learn more about how the astrology of October will affect you?
