Happy New Moon in Aries! This is the time of the lunar calendar when we experience the metaphorical energies of spring — renewal, revitalization, rebirth, and initiation. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and inspires us to get motivated. Aries is action, bravery, and leadership as well. The new moon will be exact on March 27, 2017 at 10:57 pm EDT, 7 degrees Aries. That’s 7:57 pm in Los Angeles, 3:57 am in London on March 28, and 1:57 pm in Sydney.
Although the Sun has been in Aries for a week, we haven’t quite been able to surge ahead. Instead, we’ve been rounding out a Pisces lunar month, one that began with a solar eclipse. Pisces energy can be heavy, more liminal than anything. So we’ve been in a state of waiting, floating, watching life change under the energies of the eclipses, struggling to grasp onto things.
Now we’re in a new lunar month and we can start to create from the energies of Aries. Where do we want to start fresh? Have a do over? What needs a revitalization? Where do we need to take action? Where are we waking up?
Here’s the kicker, frustratingly so. Yes, we’re all fired up and ready to go thanks to Aries, but the energy of the new moon points to Mars in Taurus. If you know Taurus, it’s a slower energy. It wants to take its time, feel safe, get comfortable, maybe pack a few snacks for the ride. And then Venus, the ruler of Taurus, is retrograde. We’re tracing a path backward with this new moon, taking a serious look at our core values as well as what we invest our time and money in. And, with Venus in Aries, there’s a need to say no to something, to make a change, or start over.
The aspects to the new moon are on the light side; the only aspect is a sextile to Neptune. Look out for divine assistance in quiet, unexpected ways this lunar month. We may need it as we come up to the prickly Libra Full Moon on April 11 and its prickly aspects to Uranus, Pluto, Jupiter, and Saturn. Also keep an eye on Venus Direct on April 15. That’s when things may start to really shift.
In the meantime, continue to do the inner reflection under this new moon, redefining your values and your basic needs as you do so.
