Happy Leo Full Moon! This is the time of the year when the spotlight turns on creativity, self expression, pride, individuality, performance, and talent. Additionally Leo is known for its playful side as well as its love of arts, leisure, and romance. As a result, we may have a decision to make that touch on these themes over the next few days. The full moon will be exact on January 23, 2016 at 8:46 pm EST, 3 degrees Leo/Aquarius. For those further afield, that’s 5:46 pm Los Angeles, 1:46 am London on 1/24, and 12:30 pm Sydney.
Who are we? What’s our identity? Do we have a strong sense of who we are or are we a patchwork of projections and unconscious expectations? For many our true self has yet to be discovered.
In fact, identity has been a reoccurring theme in my client sessions of late. Maybe it’s the heavy hand of Uranus and Pluto in the sky right now, but we’re all feeling an unprecedented demand for authenticity. This means discarding a lot of unconscious programming and fears. For example, think of the person who secretly nurtures a dream or a talent but is too afraid to share it with the world? Maybe it goes against family expectations? The artist who is a lawyer because he or she comes from a long line of lawyers? This full moon is a clarion call for the self.
We can’t forget that the Sun is in Aquarius now. For all our strutting around full of leonine inspiration, the Sun is still shining through the prism of the collective and the needs of the group over the needs of the self. Therein lies the inherent tension under this full moon; we’re straddling the divide between two polarities and we have to make a decision for what ends.
That said, Leo is bold, fiery, passionate. We may be experiencing a touch of the dramatic over the coming days. We may also be inspired to show off a talent, from picking up a paint brush or going on stage to sharing our more mundane gifts. The full moon is squaring Mars in Scorpio, too. We may fell pushed to reveal something intimate about ourselves or even secret. (Thanks, Scorpio! By the way, Leo + Scorpio is very rock and roll energy.) Maybe it’s just something as simple as confronting the fears that keep us from sharing our talents or discovering who we are.
Something that Spirit has said repeatedly to me is that we’re all here to shine our light in some way. So, how are you shining that light? Mars will inspire you to take action.
