Happy Full Moon in Aquarius! This is the time of the year when we release our intentions for humanitarian endeavors, freedom, friendship, hopes for the future, and finding our place in the collective. This full moon is exact at 2:15 pm EDT and 0 degrees of Aquarius/Leo. Think back to February’s New Moon in Aquarius. Endeavors begun at that time have now come to fruition.

The first things I noticed about the full moon chart are three planets that recently switched signs. The Sun and Moon are at 0 degrees of Leo/Aquarius respectively and Venus just entered Virgo. There is the sense that we’ve shifted into something new with this full moon; it may be a little raw and awkward. Plus the planetary ingresses into the fire and earth elements also represent a much needed drying out as we had a few weeks dominated by water.

There’s a lot of tension in this full moon. It’s square Saturn in Scorpio after all! Whatever is coming to fruition — whatever new phase we’ve shifted into — it has not come easy. Saturn squares are some of the toughest aspects in astrology. They are the equivalent of having to get to the top floor of a high rise when the elevator is out. Hope you like the stairs! But there is promise behind a Saturn square — the promise of mastery and authority and success through hard work. And since Saturn is in Scorpio, this is about mastering our shadow material, issues around emotional intimacy, and our fears about losing control.

The chart is also dominated by two powerful planetary configurations: One, the Grand Water Trine, which was exact on July 17th but is still creating a rare emotional opening. All that magical energy coming through the grand trine has met its anchor with the Saturn square — you need the hard energy to bring things into reality. Two, there is a growing cardinal t-square. Now that Mars is in the sign of Cancer, it’s applying to the Uranus/Pluto Square. Mars opposite Pluto and square Uranus? Ouch. Things are heating up this week and it’s not just the summer temps. Expect to feel restless and as if you’re itching to make a big change.

It’s worth noting that Mercury stationed a couple days ago and holds a trine to Chiron. There is a rare opportunity to articulate some of your deepest material with this aspect. Chiron in Pisces speaks to spiritual crisis and a feeling of abandonment by Source. If you’ve needed the words to describe your pain, this is your aspect. The Grand Water Trine applies the balm and Uranus square Pluto takes you further into a profound process of transformation that began a couple of years ago. The Saturn square also anchors in all the promise of the Grand Water Trine.
