Ever since Saturn went into Sagittarius back in September and Jupiter in Virgo in August, both picking up on the energy of Neptune in Pisces, we’ve been working through themes of faith, meaning, spirituality, purpose, and service. There’s a lot of tension in the sky between the invisible and the visible as well as a need to define the undefinable, the infinite. In fact, with today’s Neptune station at 7 Pisces and next week’s Saturn/Neptune square, we’re rushing headlong into an existential crisis.

Saturn and Neptune in aspect to each other is a little uncomfortable and even a bit melancholic. Saturn is naturally at home in the material world. Neptune, however, shifts our reality and pulls at the bricks and mortar that our life is built on. Suddenly the solid earth isn’t so solid. It ripples and waves, pulls back like the tide. What do we believe? What is our truth? What’s our higher calling?

As mystical as this energy is and as crazy as we sometimes think we are these days, we can’t forget Jupiter in Virgo’s call to service. What ever you are feeling, however you are moved to bring more compassion and empathy into a seemingly dark and chaotic world, it has to be grounded through practical acts of service.

Neptune is a reminder that you don’t fight hate with more hatred; you don’t undo the chokehold of fear with more fear. We’re at a turning point in human history. How are we going to serve the side of light? Through the mundane. Through our daily practice. Through our communities and rituals. Saturn in Sag, Jupiter in Virgo — we have to make our faith, our love, and our compassion real. Too much is at stake.
