Mars, the planet of motivation and action, is now in Leo, a sign it will travel for the next six weeks. It’s a Mars to play and have fun, to inspire creativity and self expression. The coming weeks will also activate a seed planted at the time of the Leo solar eclipse in August.
As an astrologer, Saturn and Mars are some of my go-to planets. Saturn is always our lessons and priorities over a 2-3 year period. And when we look back, it’s often very obvious to see Saturn’s influence in our lives.
Mars, on the other hand, is provocative. It is our short-term priorities compared to Saturn’s long-term priorities. We often react to Mars, a certain area of our lives becomes a priority because it demands our attention. Or we can be proactive with Mars, gathering its energies to push forward and achieve our goals.
In Leo, the natural fire qualities of Mars ignite passion, creative fire, and light of the Sun, Leo’s ruling planet. On a personal level, whatever Leo rules in our astrology now takes center stage. What I have my eye on as an astrologer is the fact that Mars will activate Jupiter, also in Leo, and give life to a recent August 12 solar eclipse at 20 Leo. If a solar eclipse opens a six-month chapter, then Mars will make for a dynamic and active October-November. The seeds of new beginnings may manifest around November 3-4, when Mars reaches the degree of the solar eclipse, 20 Leo.
That said, this isn’t just a Mars in Leo, it’s a Mars in Leo opposite Pluto in Aquarius. We may need to work on our relationship with power and desire over the coming week in the build up to the October 3 Mars-Pluto opposition. (Note that the cycle began on January 27 with the Mars-Pluto conjunction at 3 Aquarius.)
