Welcome to Libra Season! As of yesterday, the Sun is in the seventh sign of the zodiac, a sign that aligns with the start of autumn in the northern hemisphere and spring in the southern. It’s equal day and night, a season to seek balance and harmony.
Libra is one of the four pillars of life. It’s a cardinal sign, a sign that aligns with the four directions and seasons. Along with Aries, Cancer, and Capricorn, Libra helps to hold up the sky, which means that it is critical to the structure of the zodiac and therefore symbolically necessary for our lives.
The zodiac is merely a framework, a template that helps us to put things in order, to learn about life, and to build a richer existence. While there is the personality level of astrology that many of us are familiar with, the zodiac goes much deeper.
When we reach Libra, we’ve reached an important juncture. We’ve left the first half of the zodiac, the signs that reveal our personal world, and we enter into the second half of the zodiac, the signs that reveal our outer world. It’s time to focus on relationships and socialization. After all, Libra reminds us, we can’t do life alone. Humans are hardwired to form connections, to build community. We thrive when we learn to work together, to compromise and seek fairness.
This Libra Season has a little bit of an edge to it. First is Venus in Scorpio. As the ruler of Libra, Venus brings us into the sign adjacent to Libra, the eighth sign. While we are still focused on relationship and connection, Scorpio highlights power dynamics as well as the things that go on behind closed doors. It’s a sign that also speaks to intimacy and vulnerability, loyalty and trust.
Let’s not forget that we are a little over a week away from a solar eclipse. There’s a buzz in the air. Life readies for its next act.
