Mercury, on its way out of Leo, meets up with Venus Retrograde. It’s a day to settle something from the past, to have a conversation that brings a soothing word or a diplomatic tone. It’s also a day for us to know our value and worth.
Let’s check in Venus Retrograde, one of the many astrological events that packed itself into last week’s astrology. If you recall, Venus turns retrograde every 18-months, the most infrequently compared to the other planets. (By comparison, Mercury turns retrograde every three months.) And with Venus now retrograde, we need to take a second look at all things Venus.
What’s Venus? As the “ruler” of Taurus and Libra, Venus governs over how we relate and socialize to one another, love and romance, what we invest our time and money in, and our material stability and security. It also governs over beauty, design, and aesthetic.
Right now, Venus is in Leo, a sign that it will retrace its steps over the course of 40-days, until September 3. We have to rethink beauty and aesthetic, especially in how we present ourselves or show off our individuality through our appearance. We need to get back to what feeds us, gives us life, and lights us up. We need to reinvest in romance, play, and fun.
It’s not uncommon for themes around money and worth to come up during a retrograde. Conventional astrological wisdom states to hold off on big investments. Similarly, traditional astrology considers Venus Retrograde a time to avoid starting a new relationship or changing one’s appearance.
I’m a little agnostic when it comes to traditional rules. But they are worth considering, especially if we can wait until September to make that investment or do a cosmetic procedure or buy property.
But life is going to life, as I like to say. Sometimes we start a relationship during Venus Retrograde or get married. Sometimes we buy a home or a piece of property. If that’s the case, look for the deeper lesson or meaning. Find the loose end to tie up or the opportunity to see things differently.
