The Sun makes its annual opposition to Pluto, a time each year when we feel the transformative energies of Pluto at its strongest. Pluto reveals the hidden. It speaks to the psyche, to secrets, and the soul’s need for transformation. There is an intensity to today.
This is actually only the second time the Sun has opposed Pluto in Aquarius in the last 250 years. The first opposition was last year, on July 22, 2024. Which is to say that this is one of our early experiences of Pluto in Aquarius, a sign that Pluto will be in for 20 years. (Read Pluto in Aquarius: Sign by Sign.)
It’s important to understand that Pluto works on a deep evolutionary level. Whatever we are experiencing this week and into this weekend, whatever emotions that are coming up have a deeper subtext for us to explore. There’s always a mirror effect to look for. For example, someone’s explosive anger may mirror a hidden rage within that we have not allowed ourselves to access. A dramatic example, yes, but one that shows us the power of Pluto to help us to see something normally hidden within.
When used at its highest level, Pluto is a force of alchemy. It helps a lightbulb to go off that irrevocably transforms us.
