The Astrology of July 16, 2025

The Moon arrives in Aries and there’s a tone shift today as the Moon picks up on not only Saturn Retrograde, but Mars and the South Node in Virgo. It’s a reality check, one that may demand that we let go of the past and anything that is no longer working.

Since January, the Lunar Nodes have been in Pisces and Virgo, two points that form an axis. Unlike the planets, the Nodes are not physical. They instead act like a magnetic pole, an arc that has a great effect on our experiences over the course of an 18-month period.

The South Node, one end of this axis, is a point that connects us with the past, specifically our personal and collective karma. It’s a place that we need to work to resolve. In Virgo, our work is practical in nature. We need to take a pragmatic look at our lives in order to reorganize and restructure. Since Virgo is also a health and wellness sign, this period may include needing to refocus on how we take care of our physical health.

Virgo is also about service. And with the North Node in Pisces, we’re being asked to reconsider how we help others. Pisces is compassion and empathy. It’s not that Virgo doesn’t have compassion and empathy, but Pisces and Virgo are two signs that need to work in harmony this year and into next.

What do we owe others? How can we bring more compassion into our day-to-day lives? How can we take the time to empathize with others? It’s the little things that make a difference. And Mars in Virgo reminds us that our actions — or lack of actions — matter.

If you are in AUSTRALIA or NZ, this forecast applies approximately for July 17, 2025.
