Mercury reaches the end of its nine week adventure in Sagittarius, a visit that included a retrograde. It’s been a period to reconsider our opinions, to communicate differently. As Mercury leaves, it makes a square to Neptune in Pisces, a call for empathy.
Neptune is also nearing the end of its time in Pisces. Whereas Mercury has spent nine weeks in Sagittarius, Neptune has spent 13 years in Pisces. That begins to change when Neptune makes its first arrival in Aries on March 30, 2025, a sign that it has not occupied since the 1870s.
Mercury is what’s called a “personal” planet in astrology. It governs over our day-to-day lives. It reflects how we think, listen, learn, communicate, and explore the world around us. Neptune, on the other hand, is an “evolutionary” planet and its role is to transform whatever it comes into contact with. Neptune dissolves the boundaries between the tangible, rational world, and opens us to something beyond.
So, Mercury needs to evolve. Which means how we think, listen, and learn needs to evolve. We do that through Neptune’s energies of empathy and compassion. For some, this may feel confusing and emotional. For others, this may feel inspirational and even creative. Indeed, Mercury and Neptune make a great pairing for artists and musicians. It also means we need to open up to our intuitive mind today.
Speaking of Neptune’s arrival in Aries, it’s one of the notable astrological shifts this year, along with Uranus and Saturn changing signs. I recently created a three-hour presentation on The Astrology of 2025, which includes sign-by-sign guides and monthly overviews. You can get the webinar in the link below.
If you are in AUSTRALIA or NZ, this forecast applies approximately for January 8, 2025.
