Saturn arrives in Aries, a major shift for the astrology of 2026. A new cycle begins. If each planet plays a role in building and teaching us about life, then Saturn’s role is paramount. It is the planet of the lessons of life and the growth and maturity that follow.
When sitting down before each client session, or before each New Year, my first question is, Where is Saturn? Saturn doesn’t have all the answers, but it does have a lot of them. Namely, it reveals where our priorities are for the coming year, where we can expect there to be a shift in the narrative. Or, in the case of our personal astrology, where there will be lifelong lessons to learn and what domain will be the priority of the natal chart.
For the last three years Saturn has been in Pisces. Our priorities have been Pisces — compassion, empathy, existential questions, the search for meaning and purpose, peace, forgiveness, letting go, spirituality. Now that Saturn is in Aries (as of 7:11 pm ET), our focus shifts towards a very different sign.
If Pisces is endings, Aries is new beginnings. It’s the rush of life that we see at the start of spring. It’s action and the courage to move forward. It’s our ability to individuate and lead.
Over the next two years, until April 2028, we will have lessons to learn with Saturn in Aries, all so that we may grow and mature. These lessons may include:
- Learning to stand on our own two feet
- Learning to individuate
- Learning to set boundaries
- Learning to prioritize ourselves and our needs
- Learning to step into roles of leadership
- Learning to be accountable
- Learning to put our lives in balance

Traditionally speaking, Saturn is not at home in Aries. Classical astrology says that Saturn is in its “fall” (opposite the sign of its exaltation). What we can take from this is that while it’s important to stand on our own two feet, to prioritize our needs, we can’t do that completely at the expense of others.
Saturn is exalted in Libra, the sign opposite Aries. Part of the medicine of Saturn in Aries is to lean into Libra through building stronger relationships and learning to ask for help. Ultimately the real lesson of Saturn in Aries is that we cannot do life alone.
