Leo Full Moon: Who Are We?

Welcome to the Leo Full Moon, the time in the lunar calendar when the spotlight is on creativity and self expression. Ruled by the Sun, Leo invites us to find our spark, our passion, our individuality. But through the lens of the Moon, we must look inward. The full moon was exact on February 1, 2026 at 5:10 pm ET, 13 degrees Leo-Aquarius. That’s 2:10 pm Los Angeles, 10:01 pm London, 12:01 am Johannesburg (February 2), 3:31 am New Delhi, 9:01 am Sydney, 11:01 am Auckland.

Full moons are decision points. They demand answers. There’s an immediacy to them, taking the seeds of the new moon two weeks before and bringing them into the forefront, sometimes dramatically so. They can sometimes mark personal events and milestones.

This full moon is notable because it comes just two weeks before an Aquarius solar eclipse on February 17, playing a part in a story arc that will unfold between Aquarius and Leo into early 2028. And while this full moon is not an eclipse, it may activate the solar eclipse in advance. Doors may be opening and closing.

That said, the Moon reflects the light of the Sun. It has no light of its own. If Leo is the sign of the Sun, it’s a full moon to look at reflections — reflections in mirror, reflections of the past, the emotional stirrings that come when we examine ourselves.

Who are you?” It’s a question I often ask clients when the chart asks the same question. Who are any of us? This full moon may stir themes that Leo is known for, but we cannot forget that the Sun is in Aquarius right now. The light shines on the collective, on humanity. Leo is merely reflecting it.

This is a complex full moon. At present, there are five planets in Aquarius, including the Sun and including Mars and Pluto in Aquarius. There is a great dynamic around identity. Who are we? With Mars and Pluto in opposition, it may not be an easy question. Pluto, for example, shows us exactly who we are so that we may make a change.

So, this is a full moon for soul searching, for inner revelations, to accept what we see in the mirror so that we can change. Everything points towards Saturn at the end of Pisces. We ask these questions as a greater chapter comes to a close. The real work is to have compassion for ourselves and to use Pisces to release the aspects of self that block the light.

When we look at the chart of the Leo Full Moon we see the tension between the Leo Moon and five planets in Aquarius. Saturn, the ruler of Aquarius, is at the end of Pisces. Jupiter, the ruler of Pisces, receives the energy of the full moon from Saturn. As a result, there is an emotional undercurrent that digs into matters around home and family, duty and service.

The full moon also squares Uranus in Taurus, poised to turn direct at 27 degrees. There is push to break free — to break free of the past, to reinvent ourselves, to find new roots.

In all, it’s a dynamic full moon that lays the groundwork for the February 17 solar eclipse at 28 Aquarius. Endings that pave the way for new beginnings. A need to examine ourselves and where we belong in the world. In the meantime, we search ourselves.
