Welcome to the Gemini New Moon, the time in the lunar calendar when our attention turns towards the mind and the intellect. Gemini helps us to learn about the world around us, animating new ideas, helping us to find options, inspiring us to move and travel. The new moon is exact on May 26, 2025 at 11:03 pm ET, 6 degrees. That’s 9:30 pm Los Angeles, 4:03 am London on May 27, 5:03 am Johannesburg, 8:33 am New Delhi, 1:03 pm Sydney, 3:03 pm Auckland.
New moons are new beginnings. They motivate us to plant new seeds and they act as a focal point for our experiences over the coming four weeks. When the new moon is in Gemini, it’s a natural time for us to put our attention on education, from taking classes to reading new books. It’s also a lunar month to use our voice, to speak and converse. We may spend the coming days and weeks traveling or getting curious about the world around us.
Every sign plays a role in our growth and evolution. The first four signs of the zodiac are the building blocks for our reality. Gemini, the third sign of the zodiac, is the first air sign — primal air. The need to communicate, explore, and get information. The beauty of Gemini is that without its curiosity, we wouldn’t be inspired to discover. We wouldn’t try new flavors. Or we wouldn’t read about different subjects. Our lives would be forever small.
While the Gemini New Moon comes once a year, we’ve had Jupiter in Gemini since May 2024. Jupiter is always a planet that stirs up desire. We typically want more of whatever sign Jupiter is in. In Gemini? More ideas. More information. More travel. More things to say. On a greater level, Jupiter is always seeking meaning and purpose and it’s been a time to reconsider what we are saying and how we are communicating, to use our words and ideas to open up our view of the world. On one hand, this new moon is a time to try new things. At the time of the new moon, there are four planets in Gemini — the Sun and Moon, Mercury and Jupiter. That’s a lot of Gemini, an energy that may feel fast paced and restless over the coming weeks, but also lacking focus at times. We’ll need to find balance.
On the other hand, the deeper lesson of Gemini is to use its endless options and choices to create wisdom. (Gemini leads to Sagittarius, its opposing sign.) It’s a universal reminder that while we have free will, we still live in a world of duality. Our choices matter.
Thankfully we have support from Saturn, newly in Aries, nudging us to be responsible with our choices, actions, and words, to use the options of Gemini to begin to build a new future. Saturn is helping us to hope and dream, to vision a goal or something to work to bring into reality. Neptune, also nearby, encourages us to have some empathy in our choices as well.
That said, this new moon brings us to a lunar month that falls three months after the eclipses of March 2025 and three months before the eclipses of September 2025. The coming weeks and the choices we make may be pivotal or transitional in some way. Events from March or even December 2024 and September 2024 may feel strongly connected.
Note that we’re only a couple of months away from Uranus’s arrival in Gemini, a sign it has not been in since the 1940s. Gemini is a sign that will take on greater importance in the second half of 2025 as well as the coming years. Uranus brings awakenings, but it also shakes things up. Use this new moon and the next four weeks to observe themes and energies that Uranus may animate starting July 7, 2025.
Finally, now that Saturn is in Aries, we’re in a new personal hour and a new area of our lives takes priority. What will Saturn in Aries mean for you? You can still get the recording of my recent webinar in the link below, which includes sign-by-sign guide.
