Welcome to the Capricorn Full Moon, the time in the lunar calendar when the spotlight is on duty and responsibility, maturity and authority, ambition and reach. As the sign that governs over our material and manifested lives, Capricorn puts thing into sharp focus. The full moon is exact on July 3, 2023 at 7:39 am ET, 11 degrees Capricorn-Cancer. That’s 4:39 am Los Angeles, 12:39 pm London, 1:39 pm Johannesburg, 9:39 pm Sydney, and 11:39 pm Auckland.
Full moons are decision points, a time when something is put into full view. We have to take action. Then again, a full moon can bring resolution or a shape and form to tings. This full moon also forms a pair with the Gemini New Moon two weeks before and events may have tie to that time.
Capricorn is one of the last signs of the zodiac. When we reach it, whether during Capricorn Season or a full moon such as this, we’re asked to consider our worldly life. What have we built? Are our lives sound? What role do we play? Do we hold ourselves accountable? Ruled by Saturn, Capricorn holds a high bar, whether through integrity or through our ambitions for the future.
So, this is a full moon to do a bit of accounting. We need to honor our commitments and responsibilities or get very clear about what is needed in order to show up for them.
What’s curious is that we find Saturn in Pisces, a sign that can feel like it’s in another world. If Capricorn is near the end of the zodiac, then Pisces is at the very end. If Capricorn is our worldly life, then Pisces is our spiritual life as well as what lays beyond this physical world.
How do we reconcile the two?
This full moon may push that we find the unity between what’s in our spirit and how we live our lives or how our lives are built or even the ambitions we reach for. With the Gemini New Moon two weeks ago, and its hard aspect to Neptune, perhaps a lot of emotions have been stirring up. Perhaps we feel that we have many options and are confused as to what to pick.
Capricorn may force an answer, but whatever it is, it has to align with our hearts. Saturn is in Jupiter-ruled Pisces. Perhaps our answer is an act or a leap of faith. Or a surrender. A sextile to Jupiter in Taurus opens us up to new opportunities.
