Welcome to Scorpio Season! The Sun arrives in the 8th sign of the zodiac and we naturally turn our attention to themes of intimacy, vulnerability, and trust — life’s deeper emotional material. Scorpio also straddles the divide between life and death, this world and the next.

If there is a place for everything under heaven, then there has to be a sign that touches on mortality both literally and figuratively. Scorpio is the passage, a journey that we all must make from time to time, facing our fears and leaving behind one chapter for rebirth in the next. It’s a natural process, one that we see in the natural world as the leaves turn, falling to the ground, and we slip closer to the barren days of winter.

When the Sun is in Scorpio, the veil between this world and the next is thin. We feel Spirit more strongly, perhaps even the presence of our loved ones no longer in physical. Halloween is merely a modern version of an ancient celebration of this time of the zodiac calendar.

There are two important points to make about this year’s Scorpio Season. One, Jupiter is in Scorpio for a year long visit and we’re feeling a natural inclination to explore, grow, and learn about life’s deeper emotional material. We’re digging into our psychological nooks and crannies, facing our fears, being more vulnerable, playing detective, and opening up about secrets and taboo subjects.

Second, Mars, the ruling planet of Scorpio, just moved into Libra for the next five weeks. If Libra is all about other people, then we’re going to be experiencing Scorpio Season through the lens of our intimate partnerships, our romantic connections, and the boundaries that we have to navigate with all our relationships. Like all signs, Scorpio has a dark side, so we’ll be bringing the light of consciousness to our obsessions, our tangled patterns around power and control, and any relationships that are toxic or outright abusive.

Jupiter will open doors and be a much needed ally as we travel this passage.
