On the heels of Uranus’s arrival in Taurus yesterday, Mars moves in Aquarius, adding fuel to an already potent sky. Whatever change Uranus’s ushered in gets an activation from Mars. This is restless, dynamic energy wants us to break out of old patterns. Use wisely.

I made a joke on my Instagram account that Uranus in Taurus feels like wanting to run away and join the proverbial circus. Why? Because Taurus is normally the stable and practical sign, the one that tends to make safe, predictable decisions. And here comes Uranus, the planet that’s going to make Taurus a little wild and crazy for the next eight years.

Stable and practical is great until its not. Sometimes “safe” puts us in a rut, “safe” prevents us from any real growth. We all have Taurus somewhere in our chart, so it’s an area we play it safe. We accumulate what we need in order to feel secure and grounded. Like I said, this works until it doesn’t. (Check out my sign-by-sign guide to find out where Taurus — and thus Uranus — is in your chart.)

Last night a Taurus rising friend remarked that Uranus in Taurus will be the “un-Taurusing” of Taurus. I told her I was going to steal that term because it was a perfect way of seeing the next eight years. But I think as we “un-Taurus” some aspect of our life, we have to replace it with something. After all, Uranus is about evolving our consciousness and Taurus has to have something to hold onto.

With today’s square off between Mars and Uranus, this Uranus in Taurus story is getting a jolt. The Moon’s in Gemini, too, so suddenly everything seems like a good idea. My other joke on Instagram is that as much as we want to shake things up now, maybe our saving grace is the fact that Saturn is in Capricorn, the granddaddy of playing it safe. Whatever crazy ideas we now have to pass Saturn in Capricorn’s test of due diligence. So, before you run away and join the circus, make sure you have plan for how you’re going to work your way up to head trapeze artist.

Finally, with Mars in Aquarius, it’s important to note that the planet of action is pointing us toward the big picture over the coming months. Aquarius is the sign of humanity, the collective. It’s also a sign that helps us look to the future. Mars isn’t exactly a diplomatic planet, so we may be more acutely aware of political divide or where we are ideologically split, especially as we come up to the June 26 Mars Retrograde at 9 Aquarius. (Find out what Mars in Aquarius means for you in my sign-by-sign guide.)

You can also learn more about Uranus in Taurus in my webinar on Saturday, May 19. I’ll go through Uranus in Taurus for each sign plus what this new era means for us collectively. You’ll also get to ask questions, too. Cost is $20 USD and comes with the recording, which is great if you can’t attend live. Details and registration here.
