Welcome to Cancer Season! It’s the summer solstice here in the northern hemisphere. We mark the longest day of the year while the southern hemisphere marks the return of the light after the longest night of the year.
Solstices and equinoxes (when the days and nights are equal) are power points. They mark the seasons and the four directions of life as well as creation. When the Sun arrives in Cancer, we arrive in a season that’s all about emotional connection. It speaks of home, family, and the foundation of life.
Cancer, the sign that forms the bottom of the chart, helps us to find our place in the world, to feel rooted and grounded on an emotional level. It’s also a sign that talks about needs and when the Sun is in Cancer it’s a natural time in the zodiac for us to reach for what’s going to feed and nurture us.
Since it’s the start of a new season — summer here in the north and winter in the south — it’s a time of new beginnings. On top of that, this season ushers in two eclipses, a solar eclipse on July 2 and a lunar eclipse on July 16. Eclipses open doors while closing others. People come in and out of our lives. So, we’re out of the headiness of Gemini Season and into the heart and feeling of Cancer. Gather your loved ones close. Find more connection in your life. Create more softness. Mother yourself when you need to be mothered.
Additionally, Neptune stations retrograde at 18 degrees Pisces today. We’re feeling extra watery, extra sensitive. (It’s been raining all week here in New York.) So we may need a hug. Or we may not be seeing things clearly. Just make sure you’re aware of what’s an illusion and what’s not.
