So, Uranus turns retrograde tomorrow at 24 Aries. Here’s what you need to know.
1. Planetary stations — aka when a planet turns backwards or forward — create a surge of energy that plays out according to the archetypical themes of the planet. For example, if Mercury is travel and communication, then we’re really noticing those things in our lives around the station. Hence some of the things that tend to play out around Mercury Retrograde.
2. Uranus is like the fire of Prometheus. Something is suddenly illuminated, the world is different, we have new consciousness. Uranus is awakenings. Uranus is also unpredictable, chaotic, electric. It is the planet of geniuses, revolutionaries, and scientists. It demands authenticity, freedom, and a break from the old.
3. Uranus was discovered in 1781, making it the first of the modern that orbit beyond Saturn. Although there are some times in the year when Uranus can be viewed with the naked eye, it belongs to a class of planets that are, in a way, invisible; they can only be seen with a telescope. And since astrology is a symbolic language, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and beyond are planets speak to a personal and collective evolution. They bring things that are unconscious or invisible into our consciousness.
4. A Uranus station shakes our lives, helps us see things in a new way. It’s restless, pushes us to leave situations or people who hold us back. There is a sudden impulse to do things differently or the chaos of change without consciousness.
5. If you are an Aries, especially if you’re born around April 13-14, you’re feeling this push to make yourself into something new, something better, or to tear apart the old.
6. If you know your chart, if you have planets or angles at or around 24 degrees, you’re feeling the jolt.
7. Uranus stations twice a year, so this is not something that is uncommon. In fact, all the outer planets retrograde and turn direct every 4-5 months. The last time Uranus stationed was on December 25, 2015 at 16 Aries.
8. Bonus — Uranus will station on Eris, a new planet that was only discovered back in 2003. We haven’t had a lot of time to take consciousness of this planet, to understand what it is trying to reveal to us. But the more I tune into it, the more I see that it’s a planet that speaks to a breaking apart. I think this is Eris’s shadow actually, a tearing apart of order and energetic balance. It’s revenge, too. With Uranus activating Eris, we have to be mindful of this shadow.
Don’t forget to breathe, ground, and practice self care!
