The Moon passes through Scorpio and we turn towards life’s darker shades. Scorpio teaches us about the shadow, the facets of ourselves that we don’t want to recognize, the facets that show up in our relationships. Scorpio is also intimacy, vulnerability, and trust — key themes today.
Scorpio, along with Taurus, Leo, and Aquarius, make up what’s called the “fixed cross”. Even though we’re having Leo and Aquarius eclipses this season, the energy of change and transformation is also playing out in the signs of Scorpio and Taurus. In fact, if you’re a Scorpio or Taurus, it’s likely you’re seeing something shift in relationships, career, home … perhaps even in a dramatic way. Eclipses have a habit of rushing things in and out of our lives. But, at the very least, life is turning in a new direction.
As I mentioned yesterday, eclipses happen when there is a new or full moon on the ecliptic. And we can find the ecliptic in an astrological chart by looking for the lunar nodes. Right now the Sun is just past the South Node of the Moon in Aquarius. Directly opposite is the North Node of the Moon in Leo. The North Node brings in new experiences. The South Node lets things go. That’s why this week, as we build up to the February 15 solar eclipse, might feel heavy, loaded, or emotional.
The South Node also touches on past lives, like a well of memory. With the South Node currently in Aquarius, we have to look at our past experiences — both in this life and in others — around community, social connection, friendships, and belonging … all Aquarian themes. If something is coming up for you around these eclipses, it likely has deep roots. Perhaps even in other lifetimes.
Are you feeling a little lonely this eclipse season? Are you trying to find your people? Do you feel like people don’t understand you? The Leo North Node points the way forward. Dare to be yourself. Find joy and pleasure in expressing who you are. Rediscover the spark within.
