Welcome to the Aries Full Moon, the time in the zodiac calendar when the spotlight is on the action, drive, power, and motivation. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and connects us to the energy of new beginnings and fresh starts. The full moon is exact on October 9, 2022 at 4:55 pm, 16 degrees Aires/Libra. That’s 1:55 pm Los Angeles, 9:55 pm London, 10:55 pm Johannesburg, 7:55 am Sydney on October 10, and 9:55 am Auckland.

Full moons are decision points. They demand action. Something is put into full view. Events come up that need attention or resolution.

As the counter to Libra, Aries strikes an independent tone. It’s the “I” to Libra’s “we”. One of the things we learn during Libra Season is that everything needs to be in balance. As much as Libra is about deference and cooperation, we can’t lose ourselves with Aries. Aries is courage and bravery, it’s rugged determination.

Life requires that we stand up for ourselves and this may be a full moon where we are asked in kind, to assert our independence and individuality, to lead instead of follow.

But an Aries Full Moon can run hot and impatient. Emotions spill over, perhaps angrily so. That’s the thing about full moons; they push and pull at our subconscious. Tempers may flare not because it’s a negative full moon, but because Aries is very needs based and touches on our deepest human instincts. And when an Aries Moon isn’t getting what it wants, it can get a bit temperamental.

So if we’re pushed to take action with this full moon, it may tap into deep emotions and instincts. We may move fast, lash out, or go full force after what we want.

That said, this full moon isn’t without a pain point. Making a conjunction to Chiron, as much as we want to move quickly, we may feel an ache or something from the deep emotional past that’s holding us back. Maybe even an old fear. How do we have the courage and bravery to move forward? To do the hard thing? To fight for what we want?

With Mars in Gemini, there’s options to be weighed. We also may have something to say. Information or news may come quickly. Mars makes a square to Neptune and that news may be poignant, emotional, or require us to consider compassionate action, to find healing.

Whatever decisions we make, we get support from Mars trine Saturn, an influence that gives us perspective, maturity, and a deeper understanding about how our actions effect others.

Nevertheless, the planet that quietly holds a lot of power in the full moon is Mercury in Virgo, wrapping up its post-retrograde revisit of its home sign. In the end, we have to use this full moon to get organized, to have discernment, use our critical thinking, and be of service in some way. With an opposition to Neptune, it may come in ways that we’re not expecting.

And keep in mind that this full moon falls two weeks before a solar eclipse. The energy may be a little eclipse-like around it, preparing us for the bigger changes surrounding the Scorpio New Moon solar eclipse of October 25.
