Do you take action? What’s your relationship with leadership, drive, will? Do you stand up or stand down? Mars turns retrograde today, kicking off two months of reviewing these very themes. We’re looking back and tying up loose ends instead of moving forward.
Retrogrades are always a look back. It’s a time to reevaluate our past history with a planet. And before you get anxious about retrogrades, note that it’s common for planets to be retrograde. In fact, some planets like Jupiter and beyond are retrograde 4–5 months a year.
As much as Mars is the planet of action, it’s also the planet of aggression and anger. When Mars turns retrograde it’s not uncommon for anger and frustration to come to the surface, especially if we normally repress our Mars. We may be more aware of the energy of aggression, even if it’s ours.
Mars is turning retrograde in Aquarius and so there’s an area of our life that’s getting an activation by Mars Retrograde. (Be sure to check out my sign-by-sign guide if you’re not sure where.) There may be something we’ve been wanting to push forward with, but now we have to pull back and get a second look. And Mars in Aquarius means touches on themes of ideology, beliefs, community, humanitarianism, and social justice. Note that Mars will be retrograde until August 27, 2018 and whatever’s going on may take a couple of months to fully play out.
It’s also not uncommon to feel a little lower energy when Mars is retrograde, especially if you’re ruled by the planet Mars like Aries and Scorpio. Again, Mars Retrograde is giving us another chance to have a new consciousness about how we use our Mars — how we take action, how we use our anger, how we get motivated to move forward, and even our relationship with sexuality.
Mars was last retrograde from April 17, 2016 to June 29, 2016.
PS — I’m doing a webinar on June 30 called The Gateway to get you ready for eclipse season, which happens every six months. Eclipses mark the major events of our lives. They send us in new directions. They close one door and open another. I’ll be talking more about what eclipses mean as well as how you can work with the energy for your sign. This is especially important if you are a Cancer, Capricorn, Leo, Aquarius. Details and registration below.
