Welcome to the Gemini New Moon, a lunar month when we turn our attention to the world around us. Gemini governs over the mind, from the rudiments of language and communication to information and ideas. It’s a sign that needs movement, too. The Gemini New Moon was exact on June 14, 2026 at 10:54 pm ET, 24 degrees. That’s 7:54 pm Los Angeles, 3:54 am London on June 15, 4:54 am Johannesburg, 8:24 am Sydney, and 10:24 am Auckland.
New moons are new beginnings. They open a new chapter, they create a stage where the themes of the sign play out over the following four weeks. Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac, part of a set of signs that describe our most rudimentary experiences as human beings. In Gemini, the new moon opens our minds and ignites our curiosity. It reminds us that the universe is multiplicity and meant to be discovered.
Ruled by Mercury, the following four weeks will take on the traits of a planet that is known for its quickness. For example, it takes a mere 88 days for Mercury to circle the Sun.
This Gemini lunar month, however, Mercury is slowing down in advance of its retrograde, which begins on June 29. Mercury isn’t so quick right now. Instead, it invites us to slow down this lunar month, to contemplate on how we communicate with others, to reflect on how to share our wants and needs with others.
A retrograde is always a retracing of our steps and a karma that needs to be reworked. Our experiences over the next four weeks will have a subtext to them, a deeper story that we will have to listen for, choices that we will have to revisit.
On a similar note, Mercury, the ruling planet of the new moon, is square Saturn, a main driver in our experiences over the next four weeks. We must mind what we say, choose our words wisely, speak with maturity, be precise and deliberate, and understand that our choices have consequences.
That said, Mercury enjoys the support of Jupiter, also in Cancer. As much as Saturn may be a reality check, Jupiter inspires us to think big, to look towards new horizons, and reach for more in our lives.
Finally, while the new moon is on the other side of the sign from Uranus, it’s worth noting that this is our first Gemini New Moon with Uranus in the sign in 80 years. Whatever new beginnings take hold in the coming weeks may be a portent to greater reinventions to come over the next few years.
This week, on June 18 at 8pm ET, I’ll be doing a free one-hour introduction to Energetic Sciences, the study of energy, consciousness, and the weft — the sixth element. In this introduction, we’ll get our first introduction to the weft, the fabric of reality, and do a guided exercise at the end to begin to feel the weft with our hands. Recorded for replay. Learn more and register.
This introduction will open us to a level one course that I will be teaching online the weekend of June 27-28, from 11am to 5pm ET both days. Recorded for replay. Hosted by Mercia Academy in Switzerland. Learn more and register.
