A Gemini Moon brings a busy energy to the day, an energy that centers on the home and family. With Mercury in Pisces, there’s an opportunity for communication with compassion, especially if there is confusion. After all, Mercury is about to turn retrograde.
Astrology reminds us that duality is inherent to our world. There is day and night, for example. The tide goes in and the tide goes out. There are yin or feminine signs (the earth and water signs) and there are yang or masculine signs (the fire and air signs).
Planets either move in a direct or retrograde motion.
If you’ve heard the term “retrograde” before, it was likely because of Mercury Retrograde, that phenomenon every three months that we swear makes us late for work. Mercury appears to turn backwards in the sky. Is it possible that our lives do the same, too?
This is your friendly, periodic reminder that all planets — except for the Sun and Moon — turn retrograde. Mercury just does it the most frequently. And if Mercury is the planet of voice and communication, ideas and information, it’s important to remember that a retrograde is a yin phase of energy. It’s receptive, intuitive, and reflective. It takes us back to the past to review and, possibly, to make different choices going forward.
Mercury will turn retrograde this week on Thursday, February 26, at 22 Pisces. Over the following days, information may come to light, we may need to return to a past relationship for a different look, we may need to put more emphasis on our intuition and how we feel versus our rational, thinking mind.
Today’s Gemini Moon may be bringing up themes that we will be revisiting and reworking until March 20, when Mercury turns direct at 8 Pisces. (For those who want to know when we will leave the retrograde shadow, Mercury will not clear 22 Pisces until April 8-9, 2026.
