Venus arrives in Pisces, another sign that we are getting closer to Pisces Season. In Aquarius, Venus placed value in intellect, it invested in community and friendships. In Pisces, Venus teaches us the importance of unconditional love.
In astrology, there is a system called “essential dignity” which states that planets can either be “exalted” or “in fall” depending on what sign they are located in. A technical point, but an important point because it helps us to understand the planets on a deeper level.
Venus has strength in Pisces. According to classical astrology, Venus is in the sign of its exaltation. If Venus is what we love and value, the planet of money and relationships, then Venus does its best work in a sign that is freely flowing.
Personally, I love the exaltations in astrology. They convey a richness about the zodiac and a deeper look at how life — symbolized through the zodiac and its planets — flourishes.
Life flourishes when we can open our hearts to others, when we can raise our relationship with love and money to a level that takes us beyond our physical world. After all, we can’t take money with us. Passions come and go. But a love that expects nothing in return is the bar that the cosmos sets for us.
Astrology isn’t magic. It’s a system to understand the world around us. Venus in Pisces won’t make us better people. But, just maybe, it will inspire us to reach for something, to reveal a kinder version of ourselves, to find the magic in life.
Currently, at the other end of Pisces, stands Saturn, a very different planet than Venus. As Venus enters Pisces, Saturn prepares to leave after a three-year visit. This is a very important week with Saturn poised at 29 Pisces, the last degree of the sign and the last degree of the zodiac.
A story is beginning to come to an end. We may be seeing the result of our work since 2023 become real. A new story and a new cycle waits in the wings when Saturn enters Aries on February 13.
