Welcome to the Scorpio Full Moon, the time in the lunar calendar when the spotlight is on intimacy and vulnerability, power and control, trust and security, emotional and financial legacies. Scorpio is the passage that we all take from one life to the next. The full moon is exact on May 12, 2025 at 12:56 pm ET, 22 degrees Scorpio. That’s 9:56 am Los Angeles, 5:56 pm London, 6:56 pm Johannesburg, 10:26 pm New Delhi, 2:56 am Sydney on May 13, and 4:56 am Auckland.

Full moons are decision points. A certain part of our lives is in the spotlight. Is it a yes or a no? They can also bring events, pushing us to take action. The seeds that we planted at the time of the new moon two weeks before have come to fruition.

If Taurus is the rebirth of life and the natural world in full bloom, Scorpio is the decay and the end of life. They are twin forces that are always in movement. And yet the origins of Taurus’s flowers are in the autumnal shiver of Scorpio.

Taurus and Scorpio are also fixed signs, signs that govern over our physical and manifested world. In addition to life and rebirth, they are the signs of money and the material. Taurus is the resources we have at hand. Scorpio is the wealth that it brings.

A Scorpio Full Moon could very well be about our material lives. We’re thinking about what we own, what we want to strategically invest in, and the financial planning needed to take us through every stage of life. In this regard, Scorpio is very shrewd, gathering insurance policies both literal and figurative. With a Taurus Sun, we may also be thinking of property and real estate as one way to build security.

Then again, Scorpio is a water sign — the water of intimacy and vulnerability — whether it is forged between two people or with ourselves. This may be a full moon to look inward, to examine the psyche, to dig into the uncomfortable spots in order to reveal an important emotional discovery. We may be making an appointment with a therapist or sitting down with a trusted confidant. We may have secrets to share … or secrets to keep hidden.

That said, this is a powerful Scorpio Full Moon, particularly because of the aspects it makes, which means that in addition to everything said before, the days around the full moon may be decisive, dynamic, and transformative.

First, the full moon makes an opposition to Uranus in Taurus, an activation of an energy that has been with us off and on since 2018, 2019. Uranus is reinvention, shake ups of the status quo, it can be breakthroughs, new consciousness, or the unexpected. All we have to do is look at the Taurus part of our astrology and see that that part of our lives has completely changed in the last six or so years. (Read Uranus in Taurus: Sign by Sign.)

The days around the full moon may do just that — awaken our path or shake up the status quo, even if it’s within us.

Second, the full moon activates the energy of Mars in Leo opposite Pluto in Aquarius. While the exact opposition was two weeks before, the full moon keeps it alive. These are two planets that want to clear space, like doing demo. In fact, we’ve been navigating Mars and Pluto since last October-November. By this point, it may be crystal clear to us what needs to change or reform. The full moon is that last push. It could be a relationship, a job, a belief. We just have to sit with ourselves and feel into what this energy is revealing to us in our own lives.

This is not without a fair degree of emotional and psychic, the force that turns matter into a diamond. If we are feeling overwhelmed, it’s important to come back to the body in the days around the full moon. Taurus, after all, is our physical being, the body that houses our spirit and psyche. With Venus in Aries next to Neptune, we need to make sure we are nourishing our souls as well as our bodies. Use the full moon to get quiet, to retreat in the midst of all that is coming and going. Meditation can be medicine.

That said, May is a month that is trying to push change, like tectonic plates moving and rearranging. There’s only so much we can do. The beauty of Scorpio is its ability to metaphorically walk into the fire and become the phoenix. Perhaps we can find within ourselves to do the same.
