Welcome to the Pisces Full Moon, the time in the zodiac calendar when the spotlight is on spirituality, compassion, surrender, and release. Pisces brings us to the liminal space between this world and the next. The full moon is exact on September 20, 2021 at 7:55 pm EDT, 28 degrees Pisces/Virgo. That’s 4:55 pm Los Angeles, 12:55 am London on September 21, 1:55 am Johannesburg, 9:55 am Sydney, 11:55 am Auckland.
Full moons put things into the spotlight. We feel things strongly. Something demands our attention. We have to make a decision. Since the full moon is in Pisces, it may be an emotional decisions. Whatever is in the spotlight needs our compassion. Whatever decision we make has to come from a place of surrender.
Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac. It’s not like the other signs. It occupies some place between this world and the next. The veil is thin. We’re not sure what is real and what is not. Our dreams and intuition are heightened.
That’s the thing about the duality between Pisces and Virgo, the sign that opposes Pisces. If Virgo is what is tangible, then Pisces is intangible; if Virgo is practical and grounded, then Pisces is magical and extraordinary. During this full moon, we have to find the balance between the two — it can’t be so magical that it loses its practicality, so practical that it loses its magic.
So, how do we bridge the divide between heaven and earth?
Whether we like it or not, the full moon’s conjunction to Neptune in Pisces pulls us beyond the veil. As a result, we may be feeling a little disoriented and tired or feel such a crystal clear intuitive knowing about something that we are able to finally release and find closure on something. If something needs to be healed, it’s time to heal it on the level of the soul.
But what I’ve noticed about Neptune’s influence over the years is that whenever it’s strong in the astrology, try as we may, it’s not about what we want. We have to be open to something larger than ourselves. We have to see how we are part of something universal.
Jupiter, the ruler of the full moon, is also over in Aquarius. While it’s not in orb to this year’s ongoing tense square between Saturn and Uranus, we will feel its influence. It may be that, in order to move forward, in order to take that next step into our new lives, we have to let go of something that we’ve been holding onto — the past … a pain or suffering … an attachment … an expectation … a belief.
There’s a trine between Jupiter and Mercury in Libra, the ruler of the Virgo Sun. So it’s important to note that there’s a lot of support in this full moon. But first we have to align our earthly desires with the desires of spirit. That may take some work.
Finally, this full moon is part of a lunar month that began on September 6, putting something in the spotlight or bringing it to a resolution. It’s also a full moon that activates the lunar nodes by sign. We may be at a crossroads as a result.
Time to let go, find compassion, and forgive.
