After a whopping 20 weeks in Sagittarius, Mars finally arrives in Capricorn today like a breath of fresh air. True, Mars and Sag got on pretty well, both sharing the same adventurous spirit, but the retrograde that spanned from April to June really dug into the not so pleasant side of Mars in Sag — self righteousness and fundamentalism. Everyone had an opinion when Mars was in Sag and, lost between the hot headed debates, was a clear, open flow of communication that allowed for different ideas and beliefs.
So what of Mars in Capricorn?
Actually Mars is quite happy to be in Capricorn. In astrology we say that Mars is exalted in Capricorn, which is to say that the planet of action and motivation does its best work in the sign of achievement, status, and success. Capricorn, thankfully, takes the hot headed impulsivity of Mars and tempers it with maturity and long range strategy.
