I know I promised to talk about the North Node’s arrival in Virgo, and I will today, but let’s get another big astro event out of the way — Mars in Libra.

Mars spends about six weeks in each sign and if you want to know what will be heating up for you, follow Mars. It’s the planet of action, motivation, drive, leadership, and instinct. Mars will both inspire you to make a change or set off in a new direction as much as it will activate tempers. Yes, Mars is the god of war, and we can choose to fight for fighting’s sake or we can his fire for positive creation.

Keep in mind that Libra is a bit of an awkward placement for Mars. Used to being in charge, Mars instead has to compromise — easier said than done. So, don’t forget Libra’s charms, tact, and good manners over the coming weeks. Diplomacy will serve you well, too. (As a technical aside, Libra is Scorpio’s 12th House. The rest of our Scorpio journey will highlight the unconscious, release, retreat, spirituality, and our connection to Source.)

More on Mars in Libra here and what it will mean for your sign.

In other news, NORTH NODE IN VIRGO!

Every 18 months the north node of the moon (aka the point on the ecliptic where the Moon intersects in its orbit around the earth) changes signs. In astrology the nodes speak of fate, karma, dharma, the bigger picture, and existential experiences. If you want to know your purpose is in this lifetime, look to your north node sign; it’s like a star that guides you forward.

On a collective level, we’re all being guided to experience more Virgo in our lives — order, service, giving back, craft, perfection, details, purity, cleanliness, healing, wellness, and all around being the boss of the small stuff. Even if you don’t have your own north node in Virgo, you’re still bringing in Virgo themes for you to learn and evolve through. Plus, the north node in Virgo means that we’ll have eclipses in the signs of Virgo/Pisces; 2015–2017 will be turning point years for the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces.

With the north node in Virgo, the south node is in Pisces. The south node is a point of release. It’s where we’re deeply looking at our karma. The south node in Pisces will ask, how do we escape? What’s our relationship with spirituality? What are our illusions? What are we addicted to versus where we need sobriety? What dreams need a jolt of reality?

The south node is like an endless well of experience that we’ll be drawing from over the coming 18 months. Don’t be surprised if shadow Pisces themes are doubly highlighted in the collective, from the displacement of refugees to issues around drugs and negative spirituality. At the same time we’re bringing Pisces’s deep compassion and forgiveness to the everyday world of Virgo.

The whole point of polarity in astrology is finding the balance between two opposing signs. Both Virgo/Pisces are signs of healing and service — they just do it on two different levels. Virgo is physical healing, Pisces is spiritual healing. Virgo is earthly service. Pisces is spiritual service. But the north node in Virgo means it has to be real, tangible, and, more importantly, practical.
