My oh my, there’s a lot of stuff going on in the sky today. And it’s all pretty big deal.
First, let’s get Mercury Retrograde out of the way. Yes, the planet of communication, travel, thinking, ideas, and movement turns retrograde today and will trace a path from 1 Aquarius back to 14 Capricorn, going direct on January 25. If you know me, I’m not a Mercury Retrograde freaker outer. Apart from the Sun and the Moon, every planet goes retrograde at some point, from the practically breezy three weeks of Mercury to the 4–5 months of the outer planets.
Retrogrades are a yin phase. We take in, we reflect, we assess what ideas or choices worked for us over the last few months and what did not. No big deal.
That said, don’t tempt fate and make any major decisions right now. This is a time to take stock and rework, not start something new. Yes, things get a little screwy during Mercury Retrograde — miscommunication, things turning up from the past, your computer acting possessed — but just have patience and double check everything. Two, the Sun conjuncts Pluto today. Yowza. If the Sun is the self, the ego, identity, creativity, and vitality, then it’s rendezvous with Pluto is a death and a rebirth, a transformation, it’s power, control, and influence. It’s a day to really access the energy of Pluto, a planet that throws a mirror onto everything, even the stuff we’d rather not look at.
Three, Venus squares off with Neptune. This is a classic illusion versus reality transit. What is glamor and sparkle, like a mirage in the desert, and what is the truth? This is great for beauty, but if you want to know the true value of something, look deeper.
