We often think of astrology as time as well as the many seasons that we pass through via each zodiac sign. But astrology is also space, a three dimensionality that we forget about when looking at a flat image of the sky on a computer screen.
When I work with new clients, I explain to them that their astrology chart is like a map or a blueprint. It helps to give a sense of orientation and that the strange lines and symbols are merely the markings of terrain. My work then is to place them inside this map.
But, over time, I began to talk with clients a little differently, presenting the chart like a space that they inhabit. I discovered that the image of a house is a powerful device to visualize the chart, that their life is a symbolic house built and shaped by their astrology. And that within this house are twelve rooms.

Imagine that your life could be symbolized by a house. What would it look like? Would it be big? A luxurious house? A tiny house?
Often what first comes to mind is a projection of our psyche, a subconscious representation of how we feel about ourselves. And the reality of our astrology house, as revealed by the chart, doesn’t match the critical view we often have of ourselves.
Astrology hints at the type of house you may live in. It could be a house to discover faith, to travel and see the world from within its symbolic walls. Or the house could be learn about family, to even create your own family within. It also hints at the lessons and discoveries that may be made over time, the planets that we may find in certain rooms.
Astrology, however, tells us nothing of size, of how you live in this house. That is up to you.

The Astrology House
Your astrology house is the house that you live in symbolically, the container for all your experiences. Your life has a shape, a geometric figure that time inhabits. By using the image of a house, we can create a visual or a device to help us to enter this geometric figure.
The address to this house is your birth date, time, and place.
The style of house and the reason this house was built is reflected in the archetypes of your rising sign.
So, if you were to see your astrology house, what would you see?
What’s in your astrology house?

What do we discover in each room, from the career room to the relationship room and beyond?

The Twelve Rooms
Within the astrology house there are twelve rooms, each room bringing us into the next. These are the twelve domains that build our lives and every experience fits somewhere within the astrology house.
The 1st Room — The room that people see, a place for you to find your power, individuality, and personality. This is from where you lead.
The 2nd Room — The money room, the place that describes what you own, how you earn a living, what you need to feel safe and secure, and what you value.
The 3rd Room — The room of the mind, the place that describes how you think, listen, and learn, a library that opens up your curiosity.
The 4th Room — The family room, the place that describes where you live, the role of family in your life, ancestral connections, past and memories, and your emotional needs. This room supports your life and holds up the house.
The 5th Room — The room of play, the place that describes how you need to express yourself, your identity, the need for joy, creativity, and passion. It is what lights you up and where you recharge.
The 6th Room — The operations room, the place where you tend to the details of daily lives, your schedule, your duties, your sense of service to others, how you take care of your health and wellness. It is the systems that run your life.
The 7th Room — The relationship room, the place where you connect with others, your need for partnership, how you socialize and relate. This is also where you find the people who are your important relationships such as your spouse or partner.
The 8th Room — The room of the psyche, the place that life will bring you to, whether it is for a moment, a day, a month, or even longer. It’s the space where you must face yourself, discover your vulnerability. In this room we face our fears. You can’t skip this room because it helps you grow and find true wealth through the emotional and spiritual changes of life.
The 9th Room — The room of knowledge, the place that helps you to look beyond yourself and towards the stars. The knowledge gained in the 9th Room is born out of your time in the 8th Room. It also helps you to travel and see the world, to nourish your life with new horizons and points of view. It helps you to develop a sense of right and wrong.
The 10th Room — The career room, the highest room in the house. This is the most public, visible place in the house and describes the title after your name, the role that you play in the world, including your profession. This can be a place of status and power, but often reveals where we need to take our responsibilities seriously.
The 11th Room — The room of friendships, the place that describes your social circle, the communities that you belong to, your need to build connection on a larger scale. This is a room that can bring awareness of social issues and causes, inspire acts of service and humanitarianism. Helps you to hope and dream for the future.
The 12th Room — The invisible room, the room in the house that you cannot see because it represents all in life that we cannot touch and that is beyond this earthly world, from our dreams to our spirituality. It is a sacred space that has to be revealed to us. And if we are not able to go beyond our minds and our egos, then the 12th Room remains elusive.
