The North Node joins Neptune in Pisces, a hazy combination that has a long arc of influence that stretches over the past few weeks. If Neptune dissolves the boundaries between our physical and non-physical realities, it is an invitation to step beyond the veil.

First, what is Neptune? It is a modern planet as well as an evolutionary planet — modern in the sense that it was not known by the ancients nor known by traditional astrology, evolutionary in the sense that it is a force that creates evolution. It’s part of a cohort of planets — Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto — that transform our lives and open our consciousness.

Neptune works in the ethers, the interstitial, and liminal. It doesn’t shock or jolt like Uranus. It doesn’t pull at our soul like Pluto. Neptune blurs the physical and non-physical. Our emotions can swell like the tide. Our intuition may seem louder. It’s atmospheric like the Moon. And also like the Moon, it’s easier for us to get caught in a riptide and swept away if we are not careful.

Neptune is the planet of seers and mystics, artists and creatives as easily as it is the planet of propagandists and hucksters, enchanters and illusionists. Just two sides of the same coin.

Over the last 13 years, Neptune has been in Pisces, a combination that has amplified the highs and lows of Pisces. And as we begin to get to the end of Neptune’s time in Pisces, the presence of the North Node and subsequent eclipses seems like a grand finale. Or a fever dream. (Is this real life?)

Second, what is the North Node and, by extension, the Lunar Nodes? They are two points in the sky that tell us where the eclipses will happen. While this is more of an astronomical definition, astrologically speaking these two points — North and South Node — act as an arc of evolution. The point of the South Node is a well of memory and instinct. It shows where we may have work to do or unfinished business to wrap up. The North Node pushes us forward and acts as a focal point for new experiences and turning points.

We are at a point of opening with the Neptune conjunct the North Node at 28 degrees Pisces. Something wants to enter, wants to pivot. Is it a dance? A cliff? A vision? Remember, a planet conjunct (or square) the Nodes brings a ripple of eclipse energy. While Neptune isn’t always obvious, it is saying that something important is happening right now in our lives, even if we can’t fully see it. Perhaps we have to wait until Saturn gets to 28 Pisces around the first week of May 2025.
