As I mentioned yesterday, we’re officially in eclipse season, a time every six months when the wheels of destiny spin in a new direction. While eclipses have a bit of a reputation, they coincide with major life events like marriages, births, moves, and new jobs.

With the Sun coming up to mid Aquarius, we’re at the halfway point of the season. These “cross quarter days” have traditionally coincided with festivals. February 1st brings us Imbolc, Candlemas, and St. Brigid’s Day. We light a candle and celebrate the return of the light.

If you’ve been keeping tabs, Mercury has spent long time in Capricorn, the sign that reveals how our choices manifest as well as the karma of our word. And with Mercury rounding out contacts to Pluto and Uranus, communication and travel are super loaded right now.

Not only did we enter a new lunar month on Friday, one centered on friends, community, and social connection, but Mars is now is Aries. After six listless weeks in Pisces, Aries is a much needed boost for the planet of action and determination. Time to get motivated.

We’re in the dark of the moon, the final days in the lunar cycle before the new lunar month. We reflect, intuit, shed, and prepare. Come tomorrow, we’ll turn our sights toward Aquarius, kicking off a month centered on community, equality, and humanity.

I’ve been thinking of a lot of things lately as humanity navigates turbulent times. Maybe it’s four planets in Pisces and Jupiter in Libra, but I’ve been reflecting on the power of art and music to connect. Because fear and hatred only serve to disconnect.

I got a text from my Aries friend. “Is Mars in Aries yet?” Nope. “Whennnn?” he quickly texted back. I think he’s feeling what many of us are feeling with Mars in Pisces — a little lethargic, a little dreamy. And if you’re an Aries, you’ve been in a time out since December 19.

We’re rounding out the lunar month this week, a time when the tide ebbs and we pull back from the world to rest. It’s typically more of an internal time. Inspired by the Aquarius Sun and Sagittarius Moon today, we’re on a search for truth and meaning.

It’s been clear over the last few years, ever since Pluto moved into Capricorn in 2008, that we’re in a passage when the world that we’ve built needs to profoundly transform. If astrology is just another way to tell time, then Pluto is telling us that change is non-negotiable.

We’re in the final hours of Capricorn season, the time in the zodiac calendar when we experience life through the prism of material success, ambition, and worldly achievement. With Mars and Saturn squaring off, it’s crunch time today. What does the next level look like?

As the Moon and Jupiter join up in Libra today, setting off prickly aspects to Pluto and Uranus, it’s a reminder that we’re working through a story around other people. Libra is often described as relationships, but it’s really about how we connect to one another.

Today’s Moon in Libra connects us to Venus’s ongoing swim through the sign of Pisces. If Libra teaches us about beauty, harmony, and the needs of others, then Venus in Pisces — with a dash of Neptune — is a mystical, alluring placement for the planet of love.
