Let’s talk about the galactic center!
This time of year, when we’re winding out the last few days of Sagittarius, the Sun lines up with something called the galactic center — or the Milky Way as it’s more commonly called.
The galactic center is exactly what it sounds like. From the perspective of earth and our sleepy corner of the galaxy, this time of astrological calendar orients us toward the beating heart of our cosmos, the great nucleus that we all rotate around. (Fun fact: it takes just shy of 26,000 earth years for us to make one rotation around the galaxy.)
I think it’s the presence of the galactic center within Sagittarius that gives the sign this deep sense of distance and curiosity. It’s one thing to set off on a journey on earth; it’s another to get on a space ship into the great unknown.
If you were born in the middle of December or have planets or your ascendent in the later degrees of Sagittarius, there’s an otherworldly quality to you. There’s also an almost Aquarian feel to this part of Sag — you receive downloads and have a deep understanding of the abstract or big picture. Some of you may even feel like an alien marooned on Planet Earth.
So, use these last few days before the solstice to meditate and tune our psychic ears toward the center of the Milky Way.
