Welcome to the Libra Full Moon, the time in the lunar calendar when the spotlight is on relationships and connection, negotiation and compromise, art and beauty. Although not an eclipse, it follows an Aries solar eclipse. New beginnings need cooperation from others. The full moon will be exact on April 12, 2025 at 8:23 pm EDT, 23 degrees Libra-Aries. That’s 5:23 pm Los Angeles, 1:23 am London on April 13, 2:23 am Johannesburg, 5:53 am New Delhi, 10:23 am Sydney, 12:23 pm Auckland.
Full moons are decision points, a rally to take action. They take the seeds of the new moon, two weeks before, and brings them to fruition. Full moons also put a certain area of our lives in full view and can often bring personal events and milestones.
Since we’re in a lunar month that began with a solar eclipse, we need to look at this full moon a little differently. It may act like a lunar eclipse, even though it is not one. And it is an echo back to the eclipses in Libra and Aries, especially a Libra solar eclipse on October 2, 2024 at 10 degrees and another Libra solar eclipse on October 14, 2023 at 21 degrees — moments in time threaded together.
In general, we can expect Libra themes to play a strong role the day of and the days just before and after the full moon. If full moons demand action or bring decision points, Libra may be a call to find compromise, to understand the viewpoints of others, to seek solutions for peace. Relationships may be in the spotlight, too.
With Venus, the ruler of the eclipse, in Pisces, just about to complete its retrograde, we’re experiencing Libra through the lens of Pisces — empathy and compassion is an essential piece in any compromise or negotiation; we need to be willing to let go of what is no longer working. Venus is also exalted in Pisces: the love of Venus is best when it is free flowing and unconditional.
We can’t forget that Venus is essentially at a standstill, turning direct at 24 degrees of Pisces at 9:02 pm EDT, just after the full moon, and also turning direct in a conjunction to Saturn. Whatever decisions we are making are lasting. There is a need to get real, to set a boundary, or to make a commitment. Saturn tends to put things in black and white, even in technicolor Pisces.
With a square to Mars in Cancer, the full moon picks up on major themes from the Aries solar eclipse. Mars isn’t passive. It takes action. It goes after what it wants. As a result, our emotions and our need for stability may be fueling our actions.
In summary, this is a high-powered full moon that carries the energies of the solar eclipse forward. We may see high emotional events just before or just after the full moon. A lot of the action, spurred by the solar eclipse and the full moon, is taking place in the home environment or with family members. Relationships demand attention. We may need to decide who to connect and partner with. We may experience personal events, achievements, and milestones. We may need to make some serious and lasting decisions, ones that have their roots in events from 2023 and 2024.
