Welcome to the Virgo Full Moon, the time in the lunar calendar when the spotlight is on health and wellness, service and helping others, work and projects. As an earth sign, Virgo gets us back to reality as a counter to Pisces Season’s nebulousness. The full moon is exact on February 27 at 3:17 am EST, 8 degrees Virgo/Pisces. That’s 12:17 am Los Angeles, 8:17 am London, 10:17 am Johannesburg, 7:17 pm Sydney, 9:17 pm Auckland.
Full moons are time when something is put into the light. They can be dramatic or prompt us to take a turn in a different direction. They can also be an imperative, turning our attention to the archetypes and energies of the sign that the full moon is in.
When a full moon is in Virgo, we have to take notice of our health, from how we take care of our bodies to the rituals and needs that our bodies require. We also have to take notice of our day-to-day life. It’s the details of living such as our schedules and all the things we need to do in order to make things run smoothly.
Perhaps we’re feeling a push to clean and organize or take our health, wellness, or even our hygiene seriously. We may be tossing out anything that is impure or toxic. We may be making overdue doctor appointments. We may be committing to a new fitness initiative.
Wrapped up in the energies of this full moon is a need to do things differently. Mercury, the ruler of the full moon, is over in Aquarius. While Aquarius is a sign that can give us a new perspective or vision, it’s also a sign that speaks to systems and it’s possible that the system that your life runs on is not working anymore, like an outdated operating system.
Mercury is also joined by Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius and making a square to Uranus. Remember that Saturn-Uranus square from February 17 and its push between two lives or two ways of living? Here comes another way. And now that Mercury is direct, it’s possible that we’re seeing things in a way we didn’t a couple of weeks before.
We may also be pivoting or reacting to something unexpected. The full moon not only squares the lunar nodes, an influence that can speak to important events or changes in narrative, but it picks up on the same degree as the November 30, 2020 lunar eclipse at 8 Gemini. It’s possible that events from that time come forward in some way or the seeds planted coming to life. It’s also possible that we’re at crossroads. Which way to we go? Both Virgo and Aquarius are very analytical signs.
But what’s interesting about this full moon is the yod that it makes between Saturn in Aquarius and Chiron in Aries. Yods — aka the Finger of God (I know, dramatic) — points towards the Moon as an inescapable demand. We must find discernment. We must clean out. We must take service to others as well as humanity serious. We must find practical solutions. We must heal. We must get our feet back on the ground.
Time to upgrade the operating system.
