Happy Gemini New Moon! This is the time of the year when we turn our attention to the sign of the twins, opening up a new chapter in support of writing, learning, speaking, information, and travel. Gemini is the first air sign. There’s a buzz to it, a steady hum of ideas and movement and insatiable curiosity. The new moon will be exact on June 16, 2015 at 10:05 am EDT, 25 degrees Gemini. For those further afield, that’s 7:05 am LA, 3:05 pm London, and 12:05 am Sydney on 6/17.

The more I write about new moons the more I see how their energies shape our reality over the coming lunar month. In my previous new moon report on Taurus, I made the analogy that the new moon is like a meal that we draw from over the coming four weeks. If the planetary energies are challenging at the time of the new moon, the meal is unsettling and hard to digest.

So, what of this lunar meal?

Gemini is inherently quick in contrast to Taurus’s languors pace. It needs to move, breathe, and stretch its legs or get in a car and just drive. Gemini needs information stat. (I have a Gemini Moon and I constantly have a computer or phone tethered to me at all times.) The new moon lines right up with Mars as well — we want to take action and have a need to speak our mind, our ideas are assertive, and we want to start fresh. Mars brings a punch to this lunar month; the lunar meal is spicy and full of variety.

Things get complex when we trace a line to Mercury, the ruler of the new moon. It’s also in Gemini, having recently turned direct, and it makes something called a square to Neptune. For all our will and need to take action, there’s a spotlight on the things out of our control. Neptune is a planet that speaks to experiences outside the ego — spirituality, compassion, forgiveness, and a surrender to a higher plan or calling. The new moon says that in order to move forward and start fresh, there’s something we need to leave behind. Then again, we’re already quite familiar with Neptune after the past few weeks. This new moon just continues the story.

In the recent channellings I’ve doing about the signs and planets, Spirit calls Gemini the sign of choice. In their own words:

Every human is presented with a fundamental choice upon incarnation (Taurus). Which space will it inhabit, which path will it serve. We make no judgement upon the choice, but this is a dimension of duality and with choice comes consequence. In it’s highest form, Gemini teaches us to see the potential of our choices. It merely serves as a conduit. It presents the information needed to make a choice which is why it is a sign so deeply aligned with communication.

With that in mind, this new moon presents us with a choice. Which path are we on? Which side are we serving? Is it matter or is it spirit? Is it the ego or is it something that transcends? Neptune is intuition as well. How are we in touch with our own inner knowing? Are we getting the right information? How comfortable are we getting information that goes beyond what we know objectively to be true?

Lastly, we can’t forget Saturn, which has just slipped back to 29 degrees Scorpio. It directly plugs into Mars, which is right on the new moon. So Saturn is there, undeniably so, hanging like a weight. The last degree of any sign has a fair amount of scrutiny on it. As we move forward into this new lunar chapter, our discernment, dedication, commitment, and awareness of consequence will need to be sharper than ever.
