Happy New Moon in Aries! Ready for a powerful new beginning? Aries is not only the first sign of the zodiac, but the sign that teaches us about fresh starts, revitalization, leadership, bravery, action, and assertiveness. Take note — this is not your usual new moon. Clocking in at 2:44 pm EDT on March 30, 2014 at 9 degrees Aries, it has the dubious honor of falling right on the ongoing Uranus/Pluto square. What does this mean? Let’s take a look.
Since 2012, the planets Uranus and Pluto have been in an ongoing square formation, which is to say that they are 90 degrees apart from each other in the sky. In astrology, a square is considered a stressful relationship between to planets, each having their own agenda that doesn’t mesh. A square is friction. The last few years, as a result, have been overly turbulent as additional planets connect and pull away from this formation.
We’re about to enter a month, April 2014, that has the potential for numerous eruptions as the planets Mars and Jupiter align with Uranus and Pluto, which will make for a volatile cosmic brew. All it takes is a new or full moon to set the mixture off and lucky for us this Aries New Moon is the catalyst.
Only a few degrees away from a conjunction to Uranus, the Aries New Moon will create a powerful new beginning that may come out of the blue. Uranus is inherently hard to predict. It’s the wild card, the planet that awakens and shakes us out of complacency, upending the old order. We may enter April feeling like we’ve had our proverbial bell rung or that we’re now on a completely new cosmic playing field.
What’s interesting about this new moon is Mars Retrograde all the way over in Libra, the sign opposite Aries. This isn’t a run away chain reaction of chemicals, but a process internalized and contained. Libra is the sign of cooperation, relationship, and diplomacy. Any actions we take during this new moon will need a partner. And Mars is Libra is a reminder that we can’t go it alone — we can’t push through our own agenda without considering others. Curiously, recent international news headlines have been about diplomacy as if on cue. Mars is also trine Venus, but Venus is square Saturn. Easy does it.
In addition, the new moon squares both Jupiter and Pluto. We’re in the middle of an intense evolutionary process purposely designed to push us to the edge. Through this cosmic build up of pressure, we will transform in ways never imagined. Over the next few weeks, be kind to yourself. Be present with the emotions that bubble to the surface. Be conscious of when you need help and don’t be afraid to ask for it. Make a choice about how you’re going to use this energy. Co-create. Face your fears. Step out of old patterns. Breakthrough instead of breakdown. We’re about to go on the ride of our lives.

I am curious as i have asked this question many times to many astrologers and have not gotten any real answers but alot of ? answers with no answer.
The moon, when you looked up in the sky on the date you say above was in pisces. The new moon, when it was a new moon was in pisces.
How are you coming to any calculation that the new moon was in aries? It was with uranus right? Uranus was in pisces during the new moon as well.

Hi Brad, I’m a little unclear about your question. Uranus, according to the tropical zodiac, has been in Aries since 2011. In the sidereal zodiac, Uranus is still in Pisces because the sidereal zodiac is 23 degrees off of the tropical one. Are you referring to sidereal astrology?
I know the most recent new moon (3/20/2014) was in Aries because of an ephemeris. If you are a beginner to astrology, this site (http://zodiacarts.com/Calendar.shtml) is a good resource. You can also buy a calendar such as the one that Jim Maynard puts out (http://quicksilverproductions.com/) that gives you a listing of when and where the planets are day-by-day in addition to the new and full moons. This was also the first new moon since the equinox (the sun entering Aries) and since the Sun is in Aries, the new moon therefore is in Aries. Does this make sense or answer your question?
