Happy Full Moon in Taurus! This is the time of the year when we harvest our previous intentions for prosperity, stability, wealth, pleasure, and fertility. The full moon is exact at 11/17/2013, 10:16 am EST, and 25 degrees of Taurus/Scorpio, bringing to a close a cycle that began on the new moon last May. After the last two eclipses, the Full Moon in Taurus invites us to find solid ground. It also, with Venus in Capricorn conjunct Pluto, invites us to put our intention towards things that are of true and lasting worth.

I had a couple of moments shortly before the full moon where the Taurus archetype, mixed with Venus in Capricorn, came through loud in clear. In the first instance, I saw a clip on television of a woman, whose title was “Authenticator,” explaining how to spot the difference between a knock-off luxury handbag and the real deal. Venus, the ruler of Taurus, wants something not only well made but something that will hold up to time. The second instance was a conversation with a friend who is thinking of making a commitment to a new business and anxious about charging more for her services because her current fee is too low. Will her old clients balk at her new professional rates?

Both of these examples lead to the heart of the Full Moon in Taurus, a sign that teaches us about value. What are we worth? What is our time worth? Do we value ourselves enough to charge what we’re worth? If we’ve previously set our value too low, the full moon will shine a light where we need to make a change. Venus conjunct Pluto square Uranus? What we’ve previously invested in is changing — and markedly so. Pluto is a force that cannot be bargained with. The South Node in Taurus? It’s hard to let go of something when we’re clutching to it for dear life, even if it’s a cheap imitation of what we really want.

With Venus in Capricorn we will set our sights on the long term. Capricorn’s standards of excellency will set a high bar for us and over the next few days we’ll take inventory. Does it pass muster? Is it solid? More importantly, what is its real worth? Its true cost? When Venus turns retrograde on December 21st, we’ll certainly know for sure.
