Happy Sagittarius Full Moon! This is the time of the year when we set our sights on the horizon while taking stock of just how far we’ve come. Sagittarius is the sign of the archer and back in December, on the Sagittarius New Moon, we cast our arrows into the unknown. Now it’s time to see where they’ve landed. Over the next week we’ll experience themes around travel, exploration, distance, philosophy, religion, faith, law, wisdom, and publishing. The full moon will be exact on June 13, 2014 at 12:11 am EDT, 22 degrees Sagittarius/Gemini. And this full moon is a little personal as it falls smack dab on my ascendant. Yee haw.

This is an interesting chart. It’s also a complex chart. To understand how a full moon will unfold over the coming week, you look to the sign of the full moon — Sagittarius — and the planet ruling the sign — Jupiter. It will tell a story and who doesn’t love a good story more than Sagittarius? In this case, Jupiter is hanging out in lovely Cancer, the sign of its exaltation. And the planets are in a mutual reception, which is to say that the planets are in each others signs (the Moon rules Cancer) and so they are quite strong and can switch places. That said, there’s a big emphasis on family, memories, nostalgia, and home with this full moon. And because Sagittarius and Cancer aren’t normally on the same page, we may feel as if we’re pulled in two directions — torn between the familiarity of home and the lure of the undiscovered. Before we can move forward, we must look back from where we came.

Did you catch all the exact aspects in the full moon chart? Forgive me a moment while I nerd out. The Sun, Moon, and Jupiter are all at 22 degrees. But what’s astounding is that Venus opposes Saturn and trines Chiron — all at 17 degrees 44 minutes. How precise is that? To borrow a Sagittarian image, it’s a cosmic bulls eye. When aspects are exact in astrology they are called “partile” and are said to have great strength. So, there’s a lot of mojo in this chart. And speaking of mojo, Mars makes an exact aspect to Pluto at 12 degrees cardinal. Yowzah.

Okay, enough nerd talk. So what does it all mean? Whatever unfolds over the next few days will have a lot of juice behind it. Not that Sagittarius would do anything half heartedly. It’s the sign that practically invented the phrase, “Go big or go home.” And maybe that’s the core lesson behind this full moon? It’s time to take a leap of faith.

Jupiter is in a bit of an interesting spot. It’s square the lunar nodes. This means that there’s something coming up from the past with this full moon that needs addressing. It’s unresolved karma. That’s the real story behind this full moon. And considering Venus, the ruler of the North Node, is opposite Saturn and Mars, the ruler of the South Node, is square Pluto, it might not be easy. It’s essential for our evolution and it’s something we must face, cutting to the deepest part of our soul. Jupiter in Cancer means that it may be family of origin stuff, ancestral baggage, broken emotional connections, or repressed memories just waiting to crack like a dam. Whatever spews forth, Chiron and Saturn will be waiting for it to help in the healing process.
