Happy Aquarius Full Moon! This is the time of the year when we shine a light on the friendships in our life as well as social causes, humanitarian endeavors, and our place in the family of man. Aquarius is the visionary of the zodiac as well as the archetype of the genius, intellectual, and scientist. The full moon will be exact on August 10, 2014 at 2:09 pm EDT, 10 degrees Aquarius/Leo.

Over the past couple of days I’ve watched two programs that perfectly encapsulated both the Aquarius archetype and the Leo/Aquarius polarity. One was Downloaded, a documentary on Napster and how it seeded much of the technology that we use today — Facebook, iTunes, cloud computing. The other was The Mind of a Chef, which showcased in its first season the mad culinary creativity of chef David Chang. The two programs couldn’t be more different, but they share a similar sentiment — genius. More specifically, how genius and vision is received in the world. Is it destroyed or is it celebrated?

That is the question at the heart of the Aquarius Full Moon. With Saturn in Scorpio making an near exact square (90 degree angle; stressful), we may find ourselves running up against a wall built of our fears and demons. And if full moons bring us to a resolution and prepare us for the next journey, in order to move forward we have to take inventory of any impasse. And what’s in this impasse? All the things stashed away in our personal hell. I know, not pleasant! Thanks, Saturn in Scorpio! But that’s what Saturn in Scorpio is — shadow work.

I think that’s why I’m feeling such a strong spike of anxiety of the collective. True, full moons are about the emotional body being at its fullest, but this lunar energy in particular will drag our deepest psychological material into full view. In fact, that’s been a big theme in my recent client sessions — emotional blocks, the sort of fears that keep us from moving forward. And so what are your emotional blocks? What are your deepest fears? How are they preventing you from really being your authentic you? Is it a childhood trauma? Is it a fear of being seen? Is it not trusting yourself? Time to dismantle them forever. Own what is coming up over the next few days. Own your fears for what they are — just fears.

With three planets in Leo, including Jupiter, we’re in such a fertile time to create something new. What crazy idea have you been keeping to yourself? What bold vision of the future have you been wanting to manifest? Uranus in Aries is in full support to the Sun and Moon. But with both Uranus and Saturn in strong play, there are two very distinct energies in this full moon — the mad genius versus our fear of being different. Uranus says, write a new script! Break free of anything that is no longer authentic! Breakthrough your blocks! Don’t be afraid to do something new! But Saturn says, any idea or vision you have will need grounding in cold hard reality. Be prepared to work, but don’t let your fears hold you back.
