In many ways December represents the end of the road. It’s not only the final month of the year, but it’s also the last leg of Saturn in Scorpio* before Saturn arrives in Sagittarius on December 23. We’ve walked a hard road since October 2012, the month that Saturn first arrived in the eighth sign of the zodiac. We’re tired — no, exhausted — from the journey, and we’ve literally been to hell and back.

December is also Sagittarius season. And if there is a sign to find a silver lining in a very dark cloud it’s Sag. We may be exhausted, but at least we have our humor — another one of Sag’s saving graces. Feel free to get philosophical this month, finding meaning in what has at times seemed like a litany of losses. Mars will be in Aquarius for the remainder of Saturn in Scorpio and our attention will turn toward the collective. We may have suffered in the last two years, but what of humanity? How have we all suffered? And what can we do about it?

Additionally December 15 is the sixth Uranus/Pluto square, another major force that has been driving the astrology of the last two years. This will be a day to create very clear intentions for change as Uranus combined with the power of Pluto has the power to move mountains. That said, Uranus and Pluto demand change. Full stop. What will you do with this power?

__________

* NOTE: Saturn will dip back into Scorpio on June 14, 2015 and stay until September 17. This will be a three month review of all the things we learned when Saturn was initially in Scorpio. Then it’s onto Sagittarius where it will reside until December 2017.

ARIES

AriesThe last two years have been a wild ride, Aries. Normally you’re up for fun and adventure, but this trip has taken you through some of the darkest experiences of your life. With Saturn as your guide, you’ve covered themes of life and death, rebirth, sexuality, power, control, debt, and money. Not to mention that you’ve been in the cross hairs of Uranus and Pluto. Everything has changed because you have changed. With that in mind, December will bring the sixth of seven clashes between Uranus and Pluto, a cosmic lineup that will foster an intense need for freedom. You may have an impulse to liberate yourself from an oppressive situation or relationship. Ultimately Uranus and Pluto will help you find a profound new level of authenticity. Channel this energy in positive ways, from working with a therapist or counselor to drawing up a radical vision for what you’d like to achieve in 2015. December will also be a month to connect to your tribe. Use Mars in Aquarius to strengthen friendships and community or take on a leadership role in a group. Aquarius is the sign of the humanitarian as well and you may find yourself working toward a social cause. By the end of the month, when Saturn arrives in Sagittarius on December 23, you’ll be climbing back toward the light after two years of sorting through heavy Scorpionic material. __________

TAURUS

TaurusWhen December begins, take a look around. Note the scenery and any themes you’ve been chewing on the past couple of weeks. With Venus sailing through Sagittarius, you’ll get a sneak peek of the ground you’ll tread over the next three years. On one hand, the next leg of the journey will highlight issues of faith. What is your truth? What do you believe in? On the other hand, the next few years will take you through the deepest reaches of your psyche, touching on themes of power, intimacy, money, and legacies. With that in mind, December will be a month to start clearing out in anticipation of this next chapter, especially the stuff you’ve had a hard time letting go. If too overwhelming, start with the fridge or a closet. Take baby steps. Looking toward career, Mars’s arrival in the highest reaches of your chart on December 4, will turn much of the action toward achievement and ambition this month. Even as the year winds down, you may find yourself launching into the public or putting energy toward a goal or ambition. Nevertheless, career and status in the world will be a key focus in December. Keep an eye on December 20 and the days leading up. Venus will tangle with Uranus and Pluto and you may find yourself at a crossroads. As a dynamic duo, Uranus combined with Pluto demand soul level transformation you may feel an intense pressure to make a major change. True, Taurus is not a sign known to switch things up, but deep down you know that things cannot remain the same forever. Take a bold leap of faith. __________

Gemini

GeminiThe spotlight will be on relationships this month. In fact, this time of year naturally takes you into the realm of partners and one-on-one connections as Sag is the sign that mirrors you, Gemini. But this area of your life will take on added importance, especially over the next few years. When Saturn arrives in Sagittarius on December 23, much of the narrative will shift toward your primary relationships — your spouse, your long term mate, anyone you collaborate with. So think of this month as a preview of the coming journey. If you are in a committed relationship like a marriage, do you and your spouse need to work on strengthening the connection? If you are dating or single, are you seeking something more? Something stable and long term? The next three years will bring a major relationship milestone as well as black and white decisions about whether to stay in an existing partnership or change course. That said, another area of focus this month will be friendships, the groups you belong to, and your community. Over the past two years there’s been a need to break free of old friendships and associations. You may have even felt a strong need to give back to the world and engage in social causes. The middle of the month will give you an opportunity to rewrite the script and gain insights about the future. Or you may need to step out of a toxic or controlling relationship. In addition, keep your eye on the Gemini Full Moon on December 6, especially if you were born around June 5. This will be your time to shine. As a cardinal sign, you’ve been in the thick of a titanic clash between the planets Uranus and Pluto, a duo that has demanded transformation. And so transform you have, often in public ways. You’ve had to completely reinvent your place in the world as well as your direction in life. Relationships too have be an area of monumental shift. Leo

LeoYou’ve taken a bruising over the past two of years. With Saturn moving through Scorpio, you’ve had to work through sometimes uncomfortable themes of family, ancestry, emotional inheritances, and legacies. You may have even uncovered a few family secrets in the process. In short, 2012 onwards has been all about your roots — the things or even the people that connect you to the earth. In addition, Saturn has upped the ante, pushing you to step up in the world by throwing responsibilities and commitments your way. Admittedly this has been heavy stuff, especially for a sign that prefers to keep it light and fun. But over the past two years you’ve laid a solid foundation to build the next chapter of your life. With that in mind, December will mark the final stretch of Saturn’s residency in Scorpio. You may have a sense that a major chapter in your life is about to wrap up, the winds slowly shifting. Scorpio

ScorpioIn astrology, Saturn is the planet of maturity, discipline, and mastery — the sort of mastery that elevates people to the top of their field or station. So when Saturn entered Scorpio back in October 2012, you began a two year process of becoming Saturn. Now that you’re in the last month, poised to graduate, you have the luxury of looking back and seeing how far you’ve come. If you’ve risen to Saturn’s challenge, you’re at the top of your game, you’re a leader as well as an authority. There may even be a new plaque somewhere with your name engraved on it followed by a title. With Saturn getting ready to enter Sagittarius on December 23, this month will have both a sense of review to it and insight to the path ahead. With the Sun shining a light on your bank account and the money you make, think about making preparations for Saturn’s arrival by reviewing spending and strategizing for the future. Additionally, when your ruling planet Mars arrives in Aquarius on December 4, you will be focused on the home, spending time with family, and tending to the roots that support your worldly success. December will generally be a month spent out of the spotlight. The square off between Uranus and Pluto on December 15 will be another chance for you to make a major change in your daily habits and practices as well as diet and health. Sagittarius

SagittariusEver since Jupiter arrived in Leo last July, you’ve felt the siren call of travel, the sort that takes you to distant and exotic lands. After all, as a Sagittarius, you’re always planning the next adventure, eye to the horizon. But Saturn in Scorpio has kept you tethered like a ship stuck in port for repairs for the past two years. Although frustrating, you’ve used the time to calibrate your spiritual compass, map out your plans, and tie up loose ends. Come the end of the month, when Saturn finally arrives in Sagittarius on December 23, you will embark a three year journey filled with notable personal milestones. See, Saturn is the planet of commitment, maturity, and hard won success, which is to say that the next few years won’t be a pleasure cruise. But Saturn will be there to be your guide. Like a tough love parent, he will help you step up to the plate and get your act together. Yes, it will make for increased scrutiny, but Saturn has a vision about your future and will push you to achieve it. In the meantime, enjoy the last few days of rest and relaxation. When he arrives in Sagittarius on December 23, he’ll do so after spending two hard years in Scorpio, the sign of death, rebirth, chrysalis, and power. You’ve sifted through some of the deepest regions of your soul during this time. Maybe you even started therapy to help you piece through all the fragments. That said, this month will bring a strong sense of coming to the end of one chapter of your life and preparing for the next, although you’re not quite out of the Scorpio woods yet.
