Mars and Jupiter square off today, two planets that can feel like forces of nature. If Mars helps us take action, then Jupiter is the vision and the faith that it will work out. But what happens when the planets are at odds? We’re pushing uphill as a result.

Squares — aka when two planets form a 90 degree angle — aren’t inherently bad. They bring in the energy of manifestation. Creation is inherently a violent or aggressive act. So if we want something badly this week, be prepare to put all our desire into it, our patience, our planning, our force.

Mars, located in Capricorn, is especially strong right now. It’s in the sign of its exaltation. Jupiter, on the other hand, is looking for connection. Our ideas need partnership. Our faith needs a partner, someone to help us bring our desires into the world. But for all our enthusiasm of Jupiter in Libra, I think Mars is urging us to take it slow, to be cautious and deliberate. That’s the square energy at work.

That said, today’s Sagittarius Moon will highlight this energy of faith, exploration, and belief even more. Plus, as I mentioned yesterday, Mercury is rounding out the last few degrees of Virgo. Not only are we closing out the retrograde season, but we’re taking the September 1 solar eclipse to the next level.
