Just a friendly reminder that Mars is still retrograde. I’ve heard from a few of you and you’ve mentioned that things are a little sluggish or unresolved. Keep in mind that Mars is fire. It’s action, command, will. Any planet in retrograde — especially a personal planet like Mars — doesn’t have the same energy that it normally does. The tide is pulling out instead of pushing in. Retrogrades make us reflect and deal with all the stuff that we overlooked when we were rushing from Point A to Point B.

Mercury has also been in Taurus for, like, ever — April 5 to be exact. Taurus isn’t known for its swiftness (sorry, Taurus) so between Mercury Retrograde in Taurus and Mars Retrograde, things have been a little pokey and out of focus, especially since the Sun is in Gemini now. I think we’ll start to get some movement once Mercury gets into Gemini on June 12.

I know it seems like something is always retrograde and you would be correct! The outer planets — Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto — spend 4-5 months out of the year in retrograde. So, like gears shifting forward and backward in celestial harmony, the planets ebb and flow. Life ebbs and flows.

Another friendly reminder that Mars is retrograde in Scorpio, which is kind of like dragging the lake in a search for the murder weapon or the body. I know that’s a grim analogy, but Scorpio is a sign that contains within it a lot of deep dark secrets. Maybe you’re discovering some uncomfortable truths of late — whether your secrets revealed or someone else’s. Scorpio is shame, sexuality, taboo, power, control, the darker shades of human existence. Mars is digging in deep.

Mars will turn direct on June 29 at 23 degrees Scorpio. Until then we have some mysteries to figure out.
