Lost in the shuffle of last Saturday’s full moon was Venus’s arrival in Capricorn. Venus spends about four weeks in a sign and each chapter of her journey around the Sun is a different look into themes of value, beauty, and interpersonal relationships.

One thing you have to understand is that Capricorn is ultimately a sign about manifestation and mastery over the physical world. So if Venus is value and what we love, we naturally gravitate towards the physical things that represent command and authority in the physical world. Maybe it’s luxury goods or owning something that symbolizes a material achievement — a house, a car — as well as status and title. Additionally, Venus in Capricorn is a woman who commands respect and has a position in society. She is invested in the social contract and maintaining rules.

Keep in mind that next week Venus will line up with Pluto and Uranus, two forces that signal that this is a time in humanity when our relationship with matter, the physical world, and authority has to radically change. A major theme next week will be a push to reassess what we value, spend our money on, and the ambitions we reach for.
