I’ve been thinking a lot about this full moon we just had. Falling in the sign of Gemini, a sign that can sometimes come across as superficial, I felt like there was something deeper at play. How could there not be with multiple planets weaving aspects through the lunar tapestry.

I think the full moon did a few things. One, it really brought to our attention to how we think, communicate, and learn. Two, it tugged at the duality between Gemini and its opposing sign, Sagittarius, putting a spotlight on how we see the world, for better or for worse. Three, more importantly, it really dug into some sticky Gemini karma courtesy of Mercury conjunct Pluto in Capricorn.

Right now, Mercury is coming up to a retrograde, one that will start on December 19. Retrogrades are already a time when we have to pull back and reevaluate, but this retrograde comes paired with the energy of Pluto. And any planet in Capricorn looks at themes around physical life and how we manifest that energy. Ruled by Saturn, I think Capricorn also touches on a karmic inheritance as well as a demand for mastery. Further, Mercury in Capricorn is asking us to be the master of our choices.

To go back to the heart of the full moon, I think this lunar month is a serious time to look at how we communicate, our karma with our choices, our karma with information and the Word, our shadow around judgement — everything that there is to chew on between Gemini and Sagittarius. Audit your thoughts, your beliefs. Where are you limiting yourself? Where are you limiting others? Pluto says that the work may be uncomfortable, but transformation comes through self realization. We release it so that the unconsciousness no longer clouds the consciousness.

PS — I’m doing a live event in New York City on January 5. Details here.
